Have a friend "passing through" on a Saturday morning in June and want to meet for breakfast. Cracker Barrel is an obvious easy stop but I'm sure it will be way to crowded. Any other suggestions for breakfast? I heard Hilton Garden had breakfast - maybe Verna's? Suggestions for other options?

If you want to give them and actual "real" local experience I would suggest Verna's. Cracker Barrel serves the same breakfast all over the country.

Verna's is good. Hilton Garden Inn also good, and a great place to meet and chat in a less crowded atmosphere. The Jetty also serves breakfast on weekend mornings, can't vouch for the breakfast but if the weather is good, that view has to make the eggs taste better.

If you're hesitant to ask.....Verna's means Rams Head. It is the best!

Haven't been to Verna's since it switched from Island Inn. Thanks for the input. If the weather is really nice will probably take Eileen's suggestion for the Narrow's area and it's pretty easy on/off (or off/on the highway for those not familiar with the quirks of Kent Island geography - otherwise Verna's.

Verna has left the building. She hasn't been there for a while now. The Breakfast menu has stayed pretty much the same, the last time we were there was when they had Breakfast with the Easter Bunny.
We were upset that they had changed the potatoes, which was one of the reasons we always went there. They seemed to be deep fried now rather than skillet fried with onions. They also had some seasoning on them, possibly Old Bay or something like that. We said something to Effy and she said a lot of people had complained about it, so I don't know if they are still doing that or not since we haven't been back since then. I know we will check that out first before we order the next time.

My husband and I were talking about the lack of good breakfast places...like Rams Head but been disappointed in the breakfasts lately. especially the benedicts - they overcook the eggs every time - even after mentioning it. I suggest the Jetty on a weekend. last time we were there, it was good.

Anybody been to Holly's for breakfast? I haven't been there in years. Nothing in particular to bring me in IMO.

It is convent and quick. They also have a jumbo bloody Mary that will get your day started slightly bent. Lots of locals. Anybody been to Holly's for breakfast? I haven't been there in years. Nothing in particular to bring me in IMO.

We go to Holly's on the regular! Nothing gourmet, but it always hits the spot. Usually pretty busy, but never so busy that you can't get a table. And the service is fast

We have stopped going to Hollys as I feel they have let that place go down hill. It is just dirty, and am scared to really eat in there anymore.

On Verna's breakfast look for her to be open soon in a new location She definitely has the best breakfast around and has decided to relocate from Rams Head

We stopped by Ram's Head this morning. I went in and asked if they were making Verna's potatoes or the crappy deep fried with old bay on them. The waitress who knew us well, shook her head and said they are still making the deep fried one. I said that we won't be back anymore. She apologized and said she knew we like Verna's potatoes and always got a side order of them to go with what came with the breakfast and sorry to see us go since we were regulars there. We just turned around and left.
I hope Verna does find someplace to open.

Wow, you sure told them 58impala, going in there and telling them because of the potatoes you will never be back. Do you do that with every business you patronize. The hardware store? The Grocery store ? If they change one thing you don't agree with you go in and tell them you will never be back. I'm sure they will miss you.
By the way her potatoes are skillet fried cheap CANNED potatoes, I would rather have fried hand cut potatoes, there current potatoes might need a tweaking but cut them a break. Lighten up, life's to short.

None of you cook? Breakfast is about the easiest of any meals to make well. Frying potatoes is hardly an art.
