Yes, Bates picks up recycling every other week. I can understand by doing that, the recycling truck may fill up before the end of the route. I would guess as more people recycle, the need for weekly recycling pickup may be needed. In the meantime, I just paid my $54 for the quarter, and still happy I didn't go with the $80/qtr company. Bates gives me two containers and hauls my waste away, what more do I really need? They sent out a new calendar and all, and we, along with lots of other bay city people thought we understood that the recycle day was Monday. I guess we were all wrong. According to the new calendar, Bay City should be still on Monday with your next service on October 13th. Maybe they messed up last week. Two reasons and a question from me. One, recycling is part of the deal at $54/quarter. Two, I have about 60% more recycling than trash. The 96 gallon container is filled every 2 weeks. Three, doesn't the county require you to separate all of the recycling by type? If so, that would be number three.

Second week now, no recycle pickup in bay city. The sent out a new schedule stating recycling has been changed to every other week starting next Monday 10/13.

That is only true in about half of recycling facilities. Many places still require people to separate their recycling. Doesn't our county landfill and public drop offs still require this? I haven't visited them in a long time. Even some of the local trash companies require you to separate the recyclables. In the case of Bates, they do have the ability to separate them mechanically.

Bates has everything that I could want from a waste company. They have auto debits, trash, recycling, good customer service and are a very reasonable price. I am also partial to them because they pick up on a Monday which is convenient after a weekend of crabs or other festivities.

OK. Time for a new trash company. Bates put out their $20/month flyer and won't honor the price. (I'm currently paying $66/quarter)
Talked to the one who picked up the phone and a supervisor who claimed she talked to the owner, and basically said F-U.
What other companies are out there?

I threw my flyer away, didn't it say for new customers only?

I threw my flyer away, didn't it say for new customers only? No, it didn't. However, that's what they claimed when called on it. They also said that those of you paying less than $66 would be getting a notice of a rate increase.

I received it today. New rate is $20 a month if you sign for a 1 year contract. If you do not want to commit for 1 year, the non-contract rate will be $24 a month.

That price is still very reasonable for the service received. I think I had to agree to a one year contract last year to maintain the $18 rate. I'm still in, I don't plan on moving within the next 12 months. I've been with them over two years with zero complaints. Is there a better deal out there?

My only complaint is the new $2 a bag fee for yard waste.

Got my $2/month increase letter last week. I have no plans on switching.
