Annies was my all time favorite restaurant to go to. I would have defended them to the end.
BUT a few months ago (yep its been a while...it has been stewing in side me that I have to post about it) My father who is 91 and my older and younger son and myself went there for lunch. The food was okay (my oyster sandwich was almost inedible)...The waiter was excellent (much better than the previous time) Anyway, my dad decided to pay for the meal. Now being he is older he only left a 15% tip. As we were leaving...we walked by the kitchen door where our waiter and some woman were talking about OUR table (we know this as it was during the week and there were not many people in there). She was saying loud enough to the waiter that my older son could hear it in the hall way that our tip was not good enough. She than proceeded to quiz the waiter on why the tip wasn't good. Now had I heard this dialog I would have said something. But I did not. Good thing my dad didn't hear it. My son heard it (he is 28 so none of you think he is a child) I saw my sons disposition change...I asked him what was wrong...he wouldn't tell me. He told me a few days later. I am really disappointed in that type of attitude at an establishment that I have tipped way more than 30% at times. They were also my 1st choice when we went out to dinner for the last 19 years. They should be happy with any kind of tip. Maybe someone should tell the staff to be quiet so the patrons can't hear them complaining. Now...like I said in the beginning...Annies was my favorite restaurant. The time before this incident. It was myself and my two sons for lunch. We were sat in the sunroom...where our waitress proceeded to completely forget about us. I had to grab another waitress to get my order corrected as they had brought me the wrong meal. Then when our waitress does manage to come and check on us to fix that mistake...she argued with me. I always get the Annies steak salad...ALWAYS for lunch...and they brought me the Mediterranean steak salad with anchovies on it...I about wanted to puke with those little hairy things on it...gross. So than the waitress disappears again....I had to get the other waitress to go get her so we could get our check. She never even came back to refresh our drinks. We did nothing to be treated this way..and again it wasn't busy in there as it was during the week.
So...as I am totally insulted that they talked bad about my father who is a WWII vet..and 91 years old....I don't think I will be going back. There are too many other great choices for restaurants in town for me to always wonder of they are complaining about my tip....or forget us all together.
