Hi, I was wondering if anyone noticed the cameras on the East side of the Bay Bridge. I think these are licence plate readers. Who is watching us and why ?

The license plate readers are at the toll booths. LPR's that are 20 feet in the air probably wouldn't be real effective. ;-)

Remember when Jack Ryan was looking at the satellite photos of the terrorist camp and they were able to see "cleavage" on one of the terrorists and determine it was a female? Big Brother IS watching!!

Don't know if those are the cameras that read the tags but they do have cameras in place to read tags. They scan them as cars roll thru the toll booths and then run thru the database for offenders. MDOT has multiple computers running these programs.

If you are talking about the cameras on the orange trailers with the solar panels on top, here is the scary thing: They read your MTAG and track where you all are going. Look around on the highways, you will see them along Rt. 2, Rt. 50, Rt. 301, etc. usually just off the shoulder in the grassy areas.
Every feel like you are being watched all the time? Thank MTA (big brother...) Got you all mad yet?

I think it's just more cameras, more spending since they have more money to spend with the toll hikes.....

Where are these cameras, does someone have a picture? I keep trying to find them but haven't noticed them yet.
Why in the world would they put mobile cameras on the bridge when they have so many fixed cameras on the bridge?

I don't have a pic, but they are at each end of the bridge, in the median, trailer mounted

The cameras you see are great for if you're traveling, and you want to see what the road conditions/traffic is like. Here is the website of MD Department of Transportation, which lists all the cameras and live feeds they have. www.chart.state.md.us/TravInfo/trafficcams.phpAlso, the ones you see on the bay bridge are these: www.baybridge.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21I use the bay bridge ones pretty regularly, being that I work in Annapolis. Definitely helps to see what's up before you go some place- no use sitting in traffic for hours.

Same here.
I work nights, and generally check the cameras before leaving the house to see how the nightly lane closings or span closings are progressing so I can hopefully avoid being parked on the on ramp during the nightly cone & barrel moves.
