Snooty as any other marina I guess........ I have yet to go to one that wanted non-slipholders tying up for free. Try going to Cloverfields sometime - I wasn't there *2 MINUTES* before multiple people tried to get rid of me and I LIVE THERE.

Heck, park next to their car, not even behind it, and see what they say. Would you consider it being snooty if they complained you were parking on their property? The slip holders in the marinas pay a lot of money for the privilege of keeping their boats there. is it really being snooty for them to complain about others parking on their property?

Forgot - for 12 years that location has had a captive audience at the marina and for 12 years the businesses have failed one by one by one Not just the marina, there is a development on either side of the location. It's just a fairly inconvenient location. Not only is it a ways down Castle Marina Rd but the only way in and out is through a traffic circle where the cops tend to sit. I never went to Decoys. Meighans seemed to be doing okay but I guess there were problems between them and the landlords. I really miss Blue Water Tavern, they had great burgers. Never went to Finlays either but they didn't seem to be around very long. I hope these guys fare better than the others.

All of them followed a similar trajectory - OK to good at first, then the service and quality became erratic and even the hours became unpredictable. If Shells Yes wants to succeed, they will need enough cash to lose money for AT LEAST a year IMHO. I would be running specials for locals and putting flyers out or somehow getting the attention of the townhouses on either side and a "Marina Special" of some kind would sure help. They might also make a deal with the marina to rent an empty slip or two. They have an unfortunate history to overcome of "that place is unreliable - don't go there". I wish them luck and plan to test-drive. Also - deliveries to the pool would be nice

I think that was my point - we pay a good chunk of cash for our slips and it is not a public utility. Heck - the airport at Kentmorr IS open to the public and the "get off my lawn" guys still come out if they think you landed too fast, tore up the grass, etc etc Snooty as any other marina I guess........ I also heard that building is haunted!
Good idea for them to cater to football fans on Sundays. And possibly all the other nights football is on!

I went there for dinner. I feel that they are still a work in progress. The service was fast and friendly - that is good. The crab soup and crab cakes - not so much. More crab meat in the soup please. As for the crab cakes, better crab meat please. Not sure exactly what went wrong, but it tasted odd like they got all the mustard and gills in too or something ? Come on guys - I want this to do well. Up your game a bit - we KNOW how to make crab cakes and soup here on the island. Ask someone!

Stopped by Shells Yes last night for the first time to check it out. We had intended to only have a few drinks and then move on. We were enjoying the band that was playing, people were friendly. We were looking over the menu, I noticed that the prices were cheaper then I had seen on-line when they first opened. All was going well, so we decided to stay for dinner. We ordered a cup of the Maryland crab soup as an appetizer, it was good and fresh. I ordered a burger medium and my wife the chicken BLT. My burger was great, my wife enjoyed her sandwich, the fries were hot and the cole slaw tasty. The staff was friendly and very accommodating.
All told...3 beers, 2 wines, the soup, burger and chicken BLT came to $50.45. Our first impression was good, we'll be back in the future. They have a happy hour now, we'll have to check that out.

Sounds interesting, must check it out for myself. With the cool weather emerging and Dirty Dave's closed for the season "Swet Home Alabams" and I must head back indoors for our weekly Friday evening unwinding.
