OUR RIDICULOUSLY GOOD COFFEE ™ OFFERINGS FOR THE 21ST OF FEBRUARY:
1. Finca Santa Teresa, Panama
This coffee is grown by Juan Pablo & Maria Luisa Berard and is nestled on the slopes of the Renacimiento Volcano in the Chiriqui Province. At 1500 meters, the farm overlooks neighboring Costa Rica. The Berad's Farm is ecologically friendly, with 25 hectors set aside as a preserve, and incorporates low impact practices such as use of live barriers and drainage to prevent soil erosion, and the use of mechanical demucilager machines, which dramatically reduce water consumption. Recently the farm has also partnered with Case Esperanza, an education based NGO, to ensure farm-workers' children have assess to education.
Cup notes: waffle cone, molasses and fruit
2. Mora Mora Cooperative, Ethiopia
A certified organic coffee, grown by farmers in the mountains of the Guji Province in Ethiopia. At 1800 meters, this coffee has been grown using low impact practices such as composting spent cherries and protecting streams and rivers by catching spent water used in wet processing. The coffee is processed at a small, farmer organized coffee cooperative located near the Mora Mora River Valley.
Cup notes: almond and brown sugar sweetness, vanilla, lemon
3. Finca Casa De Zinc, El Salvador
Due to long years of civil strife and war, the Casa De Zinc Farm was abandoned, and it's coffee left uncultivated until the late 90's. Today the farm is Rainforest Alliance Certified, and exceptional coffees are being produced using ecological, low impact principals and fair and ethical work standards. Casa De Zinc is located in the Apaneca region of El Salvador, at 1200 meters. in 2010 this coffee won an award in the El Salvadoran Cup of Excellence.

Vic told me a cool little story about Belle Island Cress. Belle Island is an island off the coast of Newfoundland. Years ago there was a ship wreck and the men on the ship survived the winter subsisting on this greenery that grew wild warding of scurvy. Years later the cress was studied and it was found to have huge amounts of Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C and especially Vitamin A. Oh and it's delicious too.

Clinger's Natural Nut Butters will be bringing all 9 flavors of butters; almond, cashew ,peanut, old bay peanut, cajun peanut, pecan, walnut, AND MY FAVORITE...smoked almond, and pistachio. as well as raw and flavored nuts...and his news is that they're now in Santoni's markets in Glyndon and Baltimore, Md.

The weather looks good, so he will be there on Thursday. A bit cold, but he hate missing the markets!
Also, his first Vermont Maple syrup shipment just arrived today, he needs to do a few test batches, but it will be ready for Thursday, March 7th. So he will then offer a healthier alternative.
