Policy renewal time...a 20% increase in the premium over last year, and no, I didn't flood in Isabel. Super Storm Sandy, probably the reason. Dreading to get my boat insurance renewal, wonder what it's increase will be.

Be sure to complete the form included in your flood renewal notice. The national flood program is now rating primary homes differently than second/vacation homes. They will assume you are a second home unless you tell them differently. Also, be sure to thank your Congressman Andy Harris for voting against paying claims on those who did pay premiums and did suffer losses. He slammed OweMalley for Crisfield not getting a FEMA disaster designation (hello Mr. Congressman, this is a federal issue!) and then he voted AGAINST paying claims to flood premium payers. Go figure! With representation like that, who needs enemies!
