US Embassy in Yemen is under alert

The State Department announced on Thursday that it was temporarily closing several of its embassies across the Mideast "due to security concerns" .
While the US embassy in Sana'a will remain open, officials have confirmed that both the Yemeni authorities and their security dispatch were closely monitoring the situation.
While no details were given as to what threat the US was reacting to or whether al-Qaeda had issued a warning against American interests in the region, security analysts have speculated the alert could have been triggered by Ayman al-Zawahri's Wednesday audio recording in which he warned of reprisals against the US.
Marie Harf, spokesperson for the US Department told reporters on Thursday, “Security considerations have led us to take these precautionary steps." She explained that a number of US embassies will remained close this coming Sunday.
ABC News established that the following American outposts have been put under high security alert, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
So far the US Department has neither asked its nationals abroad to take any special precautionary measures nor taken steps toward repatriation of its diplomats.
While unrelated, this latest security alert took place at the same time Yemen President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi is poised to meet with US President Barack Obama to discuss the fate of Yemen's terror detainees and their potential transfer back to their homeland.
