Making it tougher to get food stamps might be the right thing to do, especially if there is fraud and abuse in it. But how about looking at the other end of the economic ladder to save some bucks, by eliminating tax deductions on second homes, RV's and boats. Seriously, if you can afford a second home, and you can deduct the interest off your federal income taxes up to a 1 million dollar loan...do you really need to be subsidized by the government? money.cnn.com/2013/09/19/news/economy/food-stamp-cuts/?hpt=po_c2

Are you proposing you shouldn't be allowed to deduct interest on a second home from federal taxes? I would be okay with eliminating tax deductions for all mortgage interest, even primary homes.
The information about the food stamps seems reasonable. It seems like closing loopholes or in some cases asking for just a little in return for the assistanc.

I am just hoping for a government shutdown to save some tax dollars. Free markets and capitalism will still go on, it has been long before an overbloated government and will be still be around long after government.

On the mortgage interest deduction: I see an incentive to buy, you see a loophole. Creates tax revenue that stays in the area ie transfer taxes and doc stamps, and keeps it from the feds. Also, helps the settlement and realestate service companies in the area. And that would be everywhere in the US.
