Please beware of American Waste & Recycling who advertise here on Kent Island Online. They advertise and contract you for curbside weekly trash and recycling pickup. I contracted with them to begin service on Dec 1, 2013. I paid for the quarter Dec - Feb. Suddenly, at the end of Feb. I was informed that there would be a change in pick-up day. No biggie. The following week I am informed that I am back to the original pick-up day, and that there has suddenly been a partnership developed between American and Bates Trucking. I will no longer be serviced by American (with whom I contracted), and will now be serviced by Bates Trucking who I had purposely avoided after reading a number of bad reviews. And believe me, I dug for them, didn't just go with the most easily found reviews. It is my opinion that American Waste exists specifically to lure in customers with their red, white and blue, and promises of service that they are fully aware will only last for one quarter. The exist to sell you to Bates. I also believe that waste/recycling has become a huge scam as I was one of the poor sap's lured in by "BOBS" a few years back who also promised service then sold me to a company who did not provide the same service for which I had contracted/hired them. If I am wrong I do not understand why American is still advertising that they serve my area (lower Kent Island), as this is just not true. They will lure you in, service you for a quarter, then sell you to Bates. Caution!

Where are you getting your "facts"? No reason to believe that Jon is anything but on the up and up. Spit happens. Why is recycling a scam? Why is bates? Are you paying more for your service? My only problem is that ages is not very responsive; however, Jon is.

I have had Bates since shortly after they came into this area. I have not had a single problem or complaint with them. Their recycling is great. Their cans/carts are large and sturdy. I think the only complaints I heard on here was they were very hard to get a hold of. We got locked into their lower rate of $54 a quarter, don't know if that is still available, but You should be happy with Bates.
