The VA Healthcare Scandal Grows. Thanks Obama. Calls for the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki have turned from loud to deafening as word of a new scandal involving a Veterans Administration hospital in Albuquerque came across the transom. According to the Daily Beast, the Albuquerque VA is the latest hospital to be accused of maintaining a secret waiting list to cover up delays in treating veterans with serious and life-threatening illnesses. www.thewire.com/politics/2014/05/the-va-healthcare-scandal-grows/371147/Wonder what the racial makeup of the dead Veterans is?

I don't care for cats either. I don't hate them, just don't care for them. However, I don't want to ban cats for everyone just because I don't care for them. JMO

The responsibility for the waitlist issue has to go right to the highest level.
If you are in charge of 100 entities, whether they are organizations or individuals, and you have goals set for all of them to meet, you might have 10 that fail, 80 that are average, and 10 that excel. You cannot just look at what the 10 that fail are doing wrong, you also need to look at the 10 that excel, to find out what the other 90 should be doing. At that point you should be able to figure out if the 10, that are doing it well, are really doing it right or are merely gaming the system.
Those in charge at the VA failed to do that. They should be let go. Obama said in a statement early on in his administration that the VA Healthcare system needed to be improved. What did he do to improve it? Nothing!

It is outrageous that veterans are reportedly being denied timely medical care at some Department of Veteran’s Affairs facilities-- and the problem needs to be addressed without delay.
But the bigger scandal is that Republicans in Congress -- led by Senate Minority Leader McConnell – have blocked funding for VA programs and facilities. That robs our veterans the medical services they need, earned, and deserve.
In February, Senator McConnell blocked the Omnibus Veterans Spending bill from receiving an up-or-down vote in the U.S. Senate, preventing veterans from receiving expanded healthcare benefits, educational opportunities and access to job training programs. His excuse for blocking the bill was that it didn’t include unnecessary sanctions on Iran, which are totally unrelated to veterans’ benefits.
Providing adequate healthcare to our veterans shouldn’t be dependent on Republicans’ ability to insert unrelated saber rattling provisions into spending bills – but with Senator McConnell in charge of Republicans’ strategy, this type of obstruction is all too common.
On Fox News last week, Senator McConnell attacked President Obama over the problems at the Department of Veterans affairs, saying he needs to “step up to the plate” and take responsibility. But he didn’t take any responsibility for his own role in blocking funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs and denying healthcare to our veterans.
The veterans’ spending bill Senator McConnell blocked in February would have improved health and dental care services and allowed the Department of Veterans Affairs to open 27 new clinics and medical facilities.
Senator McConnell should be ashamed of himself. Let’s make sure he knows that blocking veterans from receiving the healthcare services they deserve is unacceptable.

Let's be fair, *both* sides are annoying in these budget games.
What you don't mention is that the bill would cost $21 BILLION of money that the country doesn't have to spend right now with no source of funds identified to pay for it. Sure, the Republicans blocked it for a stupid reason, but the bill itself seems to violate/override a budget deal. So what is worse, refusing to move a bill forward because you can't add an unrelated bill, or agreeing to a deal in December and then voting to break it in February?

Another Layer to the VA Scandal: Bodies of Veterans Left Unburied for Over One Year Those who lose their lives in battle deserve to be treated with the utmost respect. Our veterans, whether the bodies are claimed or not, are required by law to receive a proper burial. However, that is not what happened to as many as 60 deceased veterans whose bodies have been at the morgue in L.A. County for the past year and a half. On Friday, 28 bodies were transferred from the morgue to be buried at the Riverside National Cemetery. The Veterans Administration claims that they were never notified about the bodies and is blaming the L.A. County Morgue. According to CBS2/KCAL9, the morgue is pointing the finger of blame at the VA also stating they have no idea how long the bodies have been there. www.tpnn.com/2014/05/26/another-layer-to-the-va-scandal-bodies-of-veterans-left-unburied-for-over-one-year/

I would have to say that the Men and Women who are being denied medical care at the VA are the same Americans that Barry Obama said were clinging to their guns and religion. Most of them would say God, Country and Family what motivate them. These are the same Americans that Obama's Dept of Homeland Security classified as a terrorist threat.
What better way to get rid of the group of men and women who would stand up against this obama administration that hates America and its culture.

Bad VA care may have killed more than 1,000 veterans, senator's report says.
Over the past decade, more than 1,000 veterans may have died as a result of VA malfeasance," said Coburn, a three-time cancer survivor who says the government should offer veterans access to private hospitals. "Poor management is costing the department billions of dollars more and compromising veterans' access to medical care," he said. Since November 2013, CNN has been reporting on how veterans wait excessive periods for VA health care, causing some to die in the process. Coburn's office says the VA has allocated about $20 billion since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to numerous non-health-related projects, such as office makeovers, unused software licenses, undocumented purchases on government debit cards and the funding of call centers that received an average of 2.4 calls per day, among others.
