Does the Sheriffs brother John Dennis “J.D.” Hofmann still work as a police officer for the Q.A. Sheriffs office or any other police dept?
Do all of the Sheriffs office personnel get free use of the house at Conquest Beach. The house that Steve Wilson lives in and is owned by Q.A. County. The same Steve Wilson that is running for County commissioner? What is Mr Wilson getting in return for letting the house be use by members of the Q.A. Sheriffs office?
Does Steve Wilson have a criminal record? I don't know if he does but I heard he did and I would like to know if its true?
Is it legal or ethical for Sheriff office to use a friends family member to make arrest so they can keep the family member out of jail?

Well... lets just start out where you are getting backed into the corner and are fighting to get out by saying that JJ is "Sleeping with Banks". Way to be an adult. Just like hofmann, you insult and whine when you get called out on yet ANOTHER fact! The fact that you spoke to hofmann says alot about your character. You managed to get yourself in the same category as him and trust me, thats not a good category to be in. So since you are such good friends with hofmann, maybe you can ask him about all the corrupt and illegal things that he has done that is claiming hasnt happened. Oh wait, it did, with documentation, to prove it. I guess integrity goes out the window when hofmann became sheriff. You talk about him having a deputy to "hold his radio". Wow, he cant handle carrying and answering his own radio that he needs someone to "volunteer" to carry it for him, then how do you expect him to be able to run a Sheriffs Department. Sad! I would be embarassed. As far as the deputy "volunteering", you talk about bs, thats the biggest that ive heard. So if this deputy "volunteered" his time, why hasnt he "volunteered" at anything else for hofmann? There have been NO deputies that are at of any of his functions other than the command staff that he has appointed. Sketchy to me! So lets get into the next topic... sheriff hofmann investigating a crime of vandalism against his sign. Last time I checked, you dont take pictures of you "investigating" a sign. That is a complete conflict of interest that he is investigating a crime against him. Lets elaborate on that topic even more.. ummm hello, you dont investigate a crime and remove the evidence. You dont remove and hide evidence, on camera and video during an "investigation". Furthermore, if hes investigating a act of vandalism... maybe the public should contact with sheriffs office and see the public record of the case number that any deputy/sheriff is required to pull and complete a report on it. Lets see if that happened. Seems just like a cover up to me. We can definately tell that jackbquick is a hofmann supporter, hes acusing JJ, someone he doesnt even know of vandalising hofmann's sign. No factual basis to support that alligation and as far as I am concerned seems like defimation of character to me. I dont know JJ personally but if I were him I would be upset. Thats ok, just like hofmann, jackbquick makes accusations and starts propaganda against people and facts he knows nothing about. I guess since hofmann and his deputy "friend" like making false arrests and sending people to jail for crimes they didnt commit, that led to a lawsuit everyone should be used to this by now. The sheriff's office received calls about what was written on the sign. He had no choice but to react to cover up the profanity. Glad to see they stopped kids from seeing it. Has the Sheriff's office made a few mistakes. Are you telling me that is the first time a false a arrest has happened in the the Sheriff's office ever?

As far as Steve Wilson is concerned, I'll say this much. I got one of his political advertisements in the mail the other day. It basically amounted to Steve Wilson is a "friend of animals" and was highlighting how dog-friendly he is. If he spends his money on political advertisements this way, I'd be scared to see how he'd spend our money as Commissioner.

Once again the truth is the truth and the truth hurts, Quit making excuses and passing it off that everyone else is wrong. Sheriff Hofmann was wrong ethically, integral, and by his own dept. polices and procedures rules and regulations of his department. Accept it for what it is! He did it and the proof is right in front of you! And we again have a pattern of that! The Sheriff's Office received calls about the vandalized sign? Did the office directly received the calls, did the sheriff directly receive the calls or did the dispatch center receive the calls? Was a road patrol deputy dispatched, or the sheriff himself dispatched directly? He had no choice to take it down? Wrong you always have options, the most easy and logical option is to take the sign down, not cover it up and preserve it for when WBOC news or when an "off duty deputy" just happens to be out and about around to take a photo op and hold his police radio! Better yet, why wasn't the sign immediately taken as evidence, haul it in one of the pickup trucks or one of the SUV's that the sheriff's office command staff command staff uses for commuting to and from work in and transport it back to the office for further crime scene processing! If you or the sheriff is such a great investigator, preserving your evidence is a priority, I hope this isn't a mode of operation for preserving evidence in all criminal investigations under Sheriff Hofmann's leadership. Please ask him the questions about the leadership topics I asked you to ask him and please give examples! As to false arrests, lets just say there is a pattern showing and now 80 million dollars in play! Both Orioles fan and Jack do you agree about Rita's on Kent Island being a good place for Italian ice on a hot summer day? Better yet maybe Orioles fan we go to Rita's On Kent Island instead that steak dinner, and I don't gamble money! Ok folks, get ready, one of the two is going to respond in the next few minutes via. their mobile devices with a rebuttal!

I must agree with Deep Sea on this topic. Get rid of ALL the incumbents, no political party discrimination. The ongoing debates regarding the numerous candidates for 5 commissioner positions, 1 Register and 1 Orphans Judge and ONE SHERIFF have been very informative and entertaining. Unfortunately I can't vote in the upcoming primary elections due to lack of registered party affiliation ( I will never surrender my independent status). I want you people to narrow the field for me and give me a few decent choices come this November. I don't vote party, I vote person. I do believe we can't afford any more tax increases or litigation expenses initiated by the Sheriff's Office. TIME FOR CHANGE! Tommy, do not want to put words in your mouth but I thought you were in favor of sewer. Wilson, Anderson, Buckey, Hogan came out with guns blazing against resolving this longstanding issue. Even though the commissioners voted to move forward, they are still working on ways to derail the inevitable. Keep that in mind when you vote.

Deepsea, again I apologize that I don't have an exact number, however here is a better response to your inquiry about the drug issues and how Mr. Banks plans to tackle this serious issue:
The Heroin epidemic is real and it is here in Queen Anne’s County. As your next Sheriff I will personally utilize my years of undercover drug investigative drug work along with my experience as a Drug Task Force supervisor in (3) three different County’s to combat this important issue.
Many different County agencies are working together to develop of plan of action to address the epidemic. Law enforcements role is unique in this overall plan as it is the only partner that has the power of arrest. With a 63% reduction in illegal drug arrests while the heroin usage is up 200%, the current enforcement approach is not working.
All assets of the Sheriff must be utilized appropriately in order to fulfill its obligation as a partner. Unfortunately a tremendous asset that the Sheriff refuses to let his officers use is a police K9 unit.
Recently at a meeting, the Sheriff was asked when the Sheriff’s Office was going to get another K9 Deputy for the County. The Sheriff’s response was that “”they are too expensive”. Please keep in mind that the average police K9 pay for itself within ONE year.
Any police officer with actual drug enforcement experience knows that a police K9 that is trained for drug detection is an invaluable tool. Not only is the dog trained for drug detection but also for protection of its handler and tracking suspects and missing individuals and yes, even escapees from the Pre-Release in Church Hill who have been known to break into homes, steal firearms and threaten our citizens. In so many ways, a K9 Deputy is also an extremely important tool In Community Policing.
What makes the Sheriff’s statement about the cost so bizarre is this. Recently you may have read where the County’s sole Deputy that was trained as a K9 handler was suspended for being paid for unearned wages. The Deputy’s drug detection and tracking dog was taken away and boarded at a kennel while its handler’s case awaited trial. Well, as the saga of mismanagement in the Sheriff’s Office continues, low and behold all of the Deputy’s charges were dropped as the Sheriff’s Office administration was found to have “issues”. This Deputy will not be returning to Queen Anne’s County as long as the current Sheriff is in office. Can you blame him?
But as if this Deputy’s reputation was being ruined in the local papers and amongst his colleges was not enough (sound familiar?), the County also let him have the police dog. This police dog cost $14,000 dollars and has now been lost to our County along with yet another trained Deputy.
As your Sheriff I will work to convince this Deputy to come back to our County and become a part of the new Sheriff’s Office where its Sheriff will advocate for his employees while making our County a leader in the fight against this heroin epidemic.
Please vote on June 24th
'Community First, It's All About You!"

How are you to keep track of your time and place as a member of the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office personnel. Do I punch in when I show up for my shift?
How about where I would go as a member of the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office? Say I tell everyone in the office and dispatch that I am heading out to point "a", how do I know that you are really at point "a" and not some were else doing things other then Official Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office business.
Does the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office keep log with all incoming and out going calls?
Chain of Command? What is the Chain of command at the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office? Who is the head Kahuna and how does everyone fall in line under him/her?
What happens when a fellow Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office personnel witness or knows of a crime commit by a fellow member of the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs office Personnel and fails to report it?
Just some questions that I would like to know the answers to. In no way am I saying a crime has been committed. I would just like to know?

Just some questions that I would like to know the answers to. In no way am I saying a crime has been committed. I would just like to know? Very good points and questions deepsea, I am just baffled as to why when I ask questions, I always responded and attacked within the hour of posting by a person via. a mobile device, I don't know about you deepsea, but I have nothing to hide and have nothing to worry about, however for some folks that get all defensive and have to attack me and my questions. But to have all these posting about the Sheriff and his department sent immediately to their mobile device make me really wonder!
I am still waiting for my answer for Sheriff Hofmann's definition of integrity and some examples of his integrity.
Another factual issue I am bring up is why Sheriff Hofmann is discontinuing the K-9 units in the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Hofmann says cost to much money. Lets see, K-9s are not just for Drug Interdiction, however they can be cross trained for patrol and tracking. A fact is that a K-9 Narcotics detection dog pays for itself and then some within the first year. For many years after the first year, the currency and other asset forfeitures that come from a result of the Narcotics K-9 go back to the K-9's department. A K-9 trained or cross trained for tracking is crucial to this county with all of the children and elderly that can go missing in a matter of seconds. With the Eastern Pre Release Division of Corrections facility north of Centreville, Inmates are known to walk off the compound and break into local homes and steal firearms, property and vehicles. A tracking K-9 would critical for a timely track started to prevent the loss of property or life. The sheriff's office wasted tens of thousands of dollars on aircrafts that are not even equipped with tracking devices. A boat (Marine Unit) with deputies that have no enforcement powers of Natural Resource Laws and laws of the waterways, and a retired employee now working contractual Monday thru Friday, in an office, making a nice salary on top of their nice pension, and with a take home car to commute across the bay bridge everyday in. That's just a few that I will mention. So lets look at some wasteful spending.

What's more funny is you continue to lie and make things up yet when you are called on it you don't respond at all, ignore the answers given or better yet whine and cry that you are being attacked.
You made unfactual statements and when I offered to prove you wrong you bailed.
Don't get your feeling hurt over an Internet forum from someone you don't even know because nobody really cares as we have differing opinions
As far as the questions go above....have either of you contacted the dept or gone on Gary's Facebook page and asked them? I'd guarentee you haven't yet you come here to ask them knowing nobody here has the answers
Enjoy your day

Is John Dennis Hofmann still a member of the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs office? Is he allowed to be a police officer or did he get his certification pulled? Do all of just a chosen few of the members of the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs Office get the use of the Conquest Beach House for free? Does Steve Wilson have a police record? The same Steve Wilson who is running for Queen Ann's County Commissioner and who lives in the house at Conquest Beach? I was told that he does but I don't know? Are all members of the Queen Ann's County Sheriffs office personnel required to keep a log book on the use and travel in County owned tax payer funded vehicles? Have A Great Day!

I bailed on what, I would love to take you up on the Rita's offer, just the menu is in play, everything else else at Ritas else is hands off, you know what I mean!!! As to Sheriff Hofmann's Facebook page and other means of social media, we all know that command decisions are made and this site is watched regularly!
I know lots and lots of factual events and incidents and can back everything up that I say! I would like to know the answers to Deepsea's questions about Conquest Beach and Sheriff Hofmann's brother. Most of all I am STILL waiting for your responses about Sheriff Hoffman's integrity definition and examples of his integrity. Rita's really sounds good talking about Integrity, but also I think Ethics would play in that thought also.

County agrees to pay former deputy $620,000 CENTREVILLE — Queen Anne’s County will pay $620,000 to settle an employment discrimination lawsuit filed by a former county deputy. The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland by former Deputy Kristy Lynn Murphy-Taylor and her husband, Donald Taylor (Kristy Lynn Murphy-Taylor, et ux. v. John Dennis Hofmann, et al., [HASH] 1:12-cv-02521-ELH). The United States intervened in the lawsuit on behalf of Murphy-Taylor in March 2013. The settlement establishes that there is no finding or admission of wrongdoing by the county. The terms of the approved settlement agreement require the county and its insurer, the Local Government Insurance Trust, to pay plaintiffs $620,000, including $194,188.52 for back-pay and interest, $89,220.46 for back-benefits, $74,364 for front-pay, and $2,227.02 for medical expenses, as well as $260,000 to plaintiffs’ attorneys for attorney’s fees and expenses. LGIT will contribute $350,000 toward the settlement; the county will pay the remaining $270,000. The sheriff issued a statement Monday afternoon in reaction to the county’s settlement: “Although the county decided to settle on their HR issue, a majority of the parties have never been deposed, very little discovery completed, and, to date, no deposition of the plaintiff has been done. No right or wrong doing has been determined in the case,” Sheriff Hofmann said. “While I understand the financial costs of defense could have exceeded the settlement, I am also very disappointed in some of the commissioners in settling a case based on allegations alone before any facts are determined.” www.myeasternshoremd.com/news/queen_annes_county/article_83e0448b-109a-5f31-8627-131e4680020a.htmlPBJ? In exchange for Hofmann's guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a related charge of fourth-degree sex offense. The judge placed Hofmann on three years of supervised probation, which requires him to successfully complete a "domestic violence and/or any sensitivity training" deemed necessary by probation officers, court records show. In addition, the judge noted that Hofmann's probation could become unsupervised once he successfully completes the mandatory education program, court records show. A "probation before judgment" verdict does not constitute a criminal conviction. Because the probation before judgment verdict doesn't appear on Hofmann's criminal record, he is eligible to remain employed by the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office, according to Lt. Dale L. Because such an administrative investigation is considered a "personnel matter," Patrick said he could not say what, if any, disciplinary action was taken against Hofmann. Hofmann was placed on administrative leave with pay in August, when the Cecil County State's Attorney's Office filed the two criminal charges against him, Patrick said. Although Hofmann was allowed to return to duty, last week's resolution of his criminal case determined that he would remain eligible to stay on the force.
