So we should just let homeless families freeze to death in the winter because there are some that have drug, alcohol, HIV or mental health issues?

Looking for some real fun? Punch the names of your neighbors in here: casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiry-index.jspThose criminals and drug addicts are closer than you thought. A few homeless in a shelter nearby will probably raise the quality of your neighborhood. ;-)

No. We should put a shelter in an urban area where there is mass transit and jobs. Where do the homeless go during the day when the shelter is closed? Putting it down Love Point is absurd.

For all the supports of this laughable "shelter".......... Wait till something bad happens. Wait till a child gets harmed by someone who was turned away at night because they were drinking or worse. It will be on YOUR conscience! I simply can not even BEGIN to fathom the thought of even a semi-intelligent human being approving a homeless shelter right smack dab between 3 schools, a park and a popular public trail. It stinks of complete incompetence!! You should be ashamed of yourselves. Certainly there is a more suitable location in this area other than the one proposed.Rob has become a LIBERAL! But what about the children!? Hey Rob. That shelter has been there for 4-5 years. No problems. I beg your pardon?? How dare you insult me by calling me a Liberal. The "Liberals", as you say, are the ones in FAVOR of this! If that POS house is what you refer to as a shelter, it looks more like a crack house then a shelter!! There are so many negatives to this issue it isn't even funny and I simply can't imagine anyone in favor of expanding that spot to 8000+ sf. !! Unless of course, they are merely looking for the liberal vote! Just another example of the "whats yours is mine" mentality that exists in this state.

If Stevensville isn't considered an urban area in this county than I don't know what would be. We can't just ship all of our homeless off to Annapolis or Baltimore -- they are part of our community.

You don't have an F'ing clue as to what you are talking about. Which is clearly evident by your support of this issue.

You're wasting your time here constructr... Frank continues to toss out "facts" that have been proven inaccurate and tries to bully anyone with a differing opinion. Regardless of his pigheadedness, the sides on this issue are strong in their beliefs and are unlikely to change. Furthermore, it doesn't appear anyone will have any impact on the outcome of this new shelter location (just wait for Frank to once again say "it's been there for 5+ years"). Either our politicians change their mind on this, or it's being built.

An interesting turn of events today. HM is apparently in for a fight on this matter. Stay tuned.
Hey, if it does go through, maybe I'll open a liquor store on State St. and make a killing?

But I thought development was good? Build out the island and get Wegmans, Walmart, Target, Harris Teeter to come here. Gotta start somewhere, no? I'm not gonna be happy until there is a shopping mall on Kent Point and Rt. 8 is 6 lanes.
Paraphrasing the immortal words of one of a long time forum member: "If you don't like it, buy it and do what you want with it."

Press releases on the Sheriff's web site go back to September of 2011. Show me ONE. Just one, for a call to service to the existing State Street site.

The shelter isn't on State Street, and never has been. I've explained this to you multiple times. It's in Chester. State Street is home to a transitional home. I've defined "transitional home" for you as well, but I guess you can't read. Yes, there have been calls to the shelter in Chester, and that's a fact. Three calls in the past two years. A fact that comes directly from the Sheriff's office.

Is it that the State Street location has not been and likely will not be a problem? Or, is it that facts do not matter and you are against the project no matter what the history might be? Oh, and let's stop the name calling; okay?
