Currently using Verizon DSL for internet and Direct TV for television. I'm ready to make the jump to all internet TV using NetFlix, Hulu, etc. but Verizon is too slow to support streaming video. Does anyone have suggestions for other alternatives for broadband internet on Kent Island?

Probably the only option would be atlantic broadband. I have a medium level service and I can download a 250 meg tv show in about three minutes. Never have an issue streaming netflix or hbo go.

Does anyone have suggestions for other alternatives for broadband internet on Kent Island? I have Verizon DSL and I have no problem with streaming video. I have an antenna up in the attic and get 38 TV stations all Baltimore channels and all but channel 7 out of DC, but I also built a small computer that contains a HDTV tuner in it and runs a free program called XBMC which is loaded with free sites to watch movies, TV shows both cable and major network ( these have been pre-recorded, just like if you went out to CBS's website to watch a show you missed), and even some live sporting events. So, yes I do a lot of streaming using Verizon DSL. I'm down here near KentMorr and about a mile as the crow flies from Verizon's building. I don't think there are as many DSL users down this way as there are in the Stevensville area, that may make the difference. But if you are down at this end, you might want them to come and do a test on your line.

I have Atlantic Broadband and am currently on the middle tier plan. I upgraded to get a cheaper price for 12 months but once the plan expires I'll probably move down to the lower plan since I really don't see a difference. On both the Starter Plus plan and the Express Plan I've streamed Netflix, played two Xbox's online and connected multiple mobile devices (iPad, iPhone) at the same time and never had a problem. I would also tell you that they are quick to restore service when it does go out. I had a truck towing a boat hit my line coming from the pole and they were here within a half hour to fix it. Verizon took two days to come fix my phone line. I had problems with Atlantic Broadband about 5 years ago but since then they have been great.

Does anyone have suggestions for other alternatives for broadband internet on Kent Island? I'm in the same boat (Verizon and Direct TV and can't stream Netflix). I've decided to bite the bullet and switch to Atlantic broad band. It's the only option on the island. People complain about Atlantic broadband but at least you can stream shows and movies. This island needs Verizon FiOs or Comcast.

I must be in the minority but over the years I've had very good and reliable internet service from ABB.
