Not very local friendly? ? Kentmorr easily is the best place on KI and I'd be willing to bet does more for the local community than any other resturant here There is plenty of parking too

Wasn't any parking when I was there.....a giant bus monopolized the parking.....plenty of other places to spend my money.

I think most people here will have pretty favorable things to say about Kentmorr. I wouldn't hold this one instance against them--it sounds like it was more of an issue with the bus company.

Did a Kentmorr employee park the bus(es)?

The only issue I have is the parking there... it's always been terrible but we still go because we enjoy the food and atmosphere. Buses take a lot more space than passenger cars but also carry a lot more people for the space required, imagine if all the people in the buss would have been two to a vehicle the amount of space it would have taken to park.
In the end it comes down to this, they're a business and are in business to make money. Turning away bus service would be foolish on their part. As a local I always know to expect a parking mess down there but it has never turned me away from supporting their establishment.

I was there a few weeks ago when a wedding reception was being held there. Dave, the owner, said Kentmorr rents a parking lot at the end of the street from the marina (Orchid and Allen streets). There is always plenty of parking there. He also told me if that lot was ever full, I could park in his driveway. Not many places anywhere you can get that treatment!

Agree. They have a massive parking area in under a 5 minute walk away.
Sure it gets crowded but even parking at the end of the road on the grass is a 3 minute walk away
I guess they should just tell the busses to go away and serve 2 people in a car instead of 50-100
Good lord.
Dave and Tammy are great people

I love Kentmorr, food is always great and the staff is friendly. Parking can be hard, but I just look for a place on the street.

Lost my business...Tammy has an attitude.......money wins over service apparently.
When was the last time any of you left a 30% tip? I won't do that there anymore.

wait... so at first you were pissed at the bus. Now you're pissed at Tammy's attitude AND you're flaunting your self-proclaimed tipping prowess?
Your critique carries no weight as you're just complaining to complain.
Bye bye bye

Oh my god, there was a bus in the parking lot? Did you report this to the Better Business Bureau? I hope you made a video, you can send it to TMZ, that should take the heat off of Ray Rice and the NFL.

They seem to want to accommodate buses but not others....had their parking lot blocked to cars.......not very local friendly. I've been on KI for over 20 years, been going to Kentmorr since we found it, I've NEVER seen a bus there. Sorta blows the 1st part of your comment outta here. "Not very local friendly" Really? Never noticed that. Parking issues, crowded lot, yep! That's the sign of a busy place, busy for a reason, a reason that was hidden from you by that bus you're fixated on.

We have been going there for as long as I can remember. We got married there and the food was great, we had a KIO party at the Tiki Bar this summer and it was top notch. A lot of the time there seems to be a crazy amount of cars there, but if you just park in the lot that's in the stockade fence and walk the 3 minutes, it's not a problem. Kentmorr can hold a lot of people - way more than you would think from looking at it in the front. The crab cakes are awesome, the "Wakami Scallops" are great, even the cheaper stuff like the pizza is really really good. I get the meat lover's pizza a lot and it's delicious.
I have known Tammy & Dave for a long time and that place means the world to them. It shows in everything that they do. I'm not just saying that because they advertise on KIO, but because it's one of my (and my entire families) favorite place to go.
We went to a different place tonight for a change-up, and when we were done, we both wished that we had just went to Kentmorr. Slow service, the wrong stuff served to us, bill was $100 for food & service that was just not up to par for what should have cost half of that. This never would have happened at Kentmorr. It really is a gem in my humble opinion.

I want to see a picture of this bus! It must have really been something to see. I can't imagine a bus taking up 50+ parking spaces spread out over the span of the property. Was it one of those fancy European articulating buses?

Love Kentmorr. It's our go to restaurant on the Island. The service and food has always been consistent and excellent.
As far as parking goes, I feel bad for the people that live near the restaurant and have to deal with cars parked in their front yards all summer! That's why we ride our bikes there when we can. It's a great ride and I don't feel bad ordering the cookie sundae for dessert because I know I will burn it off on the ride home!

Whiners - 1, Diners - 21! Kentmoor has been one of my favorite places since the mid 1980's. Yes, parking can be a challenge, but there are plenty of other places around where you can find plenty of spots, and sit at any table you like.
