"...Additional parking spaces would also be built adjacent to the hotel and in an underground garage." Seriously..what a load of bunk.

So instead of a water view, or marina view, etc., we get a lovely four- story hotel, etc. I think the shulzes sold us out.

I'd imagine they were offered a nice sum of coin for the property.
I'm having a hard time believing any of us wouldn't do the same if we could

Just to clarify, the Schulz's did not sell anything. They are building the hotel/project and own it.

As annoying as it is to have all these hotels pop up they can be good for the local economy. Jobs. Hotel tax. A few hundred people in the area every summer weekend is great for restaurants.
What's the local hotel tax? 7%? If so that's 14 bucks to the county for every $200 room with a view. 1500 bucks a night if the hotel is booked solid. A few more weddings in the area a year will help caterers. Photographers. Etc.

How exactly did they sell US as you put it out? Let's see. By taking the things that are charming/beautiful/attractive about our local environs and turning them into just another bunch of buildings. Do you enjoy the view as you drive by or visit the narrows area? Say bye-bye. Is this all we are, essentially a tourist trap? Not going to be much left where you can feel comfortable as a local. Won't even go into environmental issues. More and more, our beautiful part of the world is disappearing, permanently, and likely to line the pockets of a few rather than enhance or maintain a rare area that brings happiness to many more.

The current property is a marina. So it's paved over completely. So it's not like we are knocking down trees and paving over wetland grass.
Right now every drop of gas and oil is running off the pavement and into the eastern bay.
With a hotel there is likely going to be some green space to absorb some of that run off.

I get what you are saying and I'm not saying I agree with it but if that's the best offer they found to build then so be it
I'm sure if you or I or anyone offered them what they will make in cash they'd have sold it.
My issue is people telling others who own property what they can and can't do with it
I'd prefer it stay open but realistically of course that wasn't going to last

A marina can be very attractive. The paving/runoff issue can be corrected. You don't have to build a freaking four story hotel ! This is a pretty weak argument.

To bad you were not here when the packing houses, shanties and a couple of marinas made up the Narrows. You didn't venture down there after dark.

It's hard to imagine people wanting to visit here because we live here. But those prices it's obvious there is a big demand.
