If you are a Holly's fan, you better get your final fix this week.

Their dinners have become hit and miss lately, breakfasts seem to be the same. I'm tore if we will rush off this week for one more time. If I do go I will take my camera and shoot a bunch of photos.

We went for our LAST Nostalgia Breakfast this past weekend.
They Gave Up a LONG Time ago and we should have known better to try again.
Ordered the Creamed Chip Beef and paid Extra for the "Homemade" Home Fries.
When the order finally came out, The Chipped Beef was Full of RAW Flour and the "Homemade" Home Fries were NOTHING More than Canned Sliced "Irish" Potatoes, warmed up on the grill.
Sad to see such a Long standing Institution go, but their "Standards" have been CRAP For SEVERAL Years.
Royal Farms has just as good FRESH Fried Chicken !!!!

My father would stop there on the way to/from the beach back in the 60's and 70's. All us kids would pile into a booth. Seems it was a part of our family history for 50 years even though I can't remember if the food was good then or not. It was just a beach tradition. In the late 90's I started taking my family there. It was hit or miss. Last several visits were disappointing. We haven't been there in 2 or 3 years now. A lot of people probably have fond memories of that place. I guess change is inevitable.

My wife and I were thinking of going there for a "last hurrah" dinner. Seems it may not be worth it.

Holly's will be missed, but I am happy for the family to sell and retire.

They are advertising a going out of business sale beginning Oct 11. Might me able to score some cheap beds for that homeless shelter from the motel.

I always root for the small independant places over the chains, but honestly I haven't eaten at Holly's in probably 10+ years. I remember the last time I went there thinking, ok I don't get it - what's so great about this place? Food was average at best. I get that it's been there a long time and all but I won't miss it. I would take RF over them in a heartbeat - and it pains me to say that.

Agreed, I did like going there. but it seems they became very complacent in the last number of years and were just "coasting". sad because it could have very well still packing them in like they used to. Could still be a landmark and a place to "go to".

Anyone go to the sale yesterday? I stopped in and grabbed a few old motel keys. Most of the kitchen stuff was picked over. I looked into a few of the motel rooms and they were mostly a mess from the roof leaking and collapsing.
