If you're driving from KI, once you go past the split the property is located on the right hand side across the highway from the outlets. They are calling for mix use residential and commercial. Queen-burnie? ? That light is a major source of traffic back ups on 50. Imagine if there was development on both sides of the highway. I'd hope the state will build some type of over pass as suggested in the article. www.myeasternshoremd.com/news/queen_annes_county/article_08e07101-5807-5208-aaf5-a32bfefafc7e.html

No worries, they are going to install a traffic circle! If you're driving from KI, once you go past the split the property is located on the right hand side across the highway from the outlets. But this map is obviously a little out dated. How many years ago did they build the center building at the outlets? At the times this drawing was done it might have been feasible to create an over pass to connect the 2 sides. But with the current design of the outlets I'm not sure how they could get rid of the light and make an over pass.

Sounds like a traffic nightmare is about to get a whole lot worse. I dont believe the State will be spending anymore money on overpasses for the Eastern Shore, the one slated for 301/304 is projected to cost 50 million.

Traffic won't get worse relax Don't like buy the property and don't build on it Wow! Is it really that easy? If I don't like the way the country is run can I simply get myself elected president then run it differently? The best we can do, whether trying to influence our leaders or influence the development of the area, is let our voices be heard. That's what this country is all about. There are no simple solutions to the situation. It isn't fair to the property owner to deny them the right to develop their property. But it also isn't fair to inflict more traffic and congestion on those already suffering from it. (of course traffic will get worse. there will be additional lights or turn lanes to slow it more than it is now. there will be more people slowing, turning, and stopping. if the property owner is right then there will also be an increase in traffic. if not, if no one turns, if no one stops, if no one else comes then the business will fail and that doesn't seem likely)

You'll have four lanes dumping into two.

Correct if I am wrong, but isn't 404 a two lane road now. One north and one south, that will be widened to a total of 4 lanes, 2 north, two south. You will have a 2 lane merging onto a 2 lane.

2 lanes from 404 and 2 lanes from 50 will all merge together onto 50s 2 lanes

In other words, 4 lanes into 2 With the way people around here drive, you could have 20 lanes merge down to 19 lanes, and there will be a traffic jam.

Can anyone tell me why when they rebuilt the over pass last year they left it so small. You would think the State and county would have at least increased the lanes for the future. Dope!

I may be able to help you with an answer to your question Jack. The bridge wasn't rebuilt, the superstructure was rehabilitated. It is an old bridge. Basically, it had it's concrete deck replaced as well as the parapets. The existing structural was steel left in place, reconditioned and recoated. The existing substructure was left in tact and therefore, unable to support any additional load. In my opinion, any future master plan to reconstruct Rte. 50 as a 6 lane limited access highway between the split and 404 would require several new bridges in addition to complete reconstruction of the 50/301 interchange including upgraded access to the outlets and local Queenstown. Now we are talking GROWTH. My best guess.

I guess you need a few friends in Annapolis to shift some of the state transportation funding from SHA District 3 (Montgomery/Pee G county) to the Shore Districts. The infrastructure improvement projects proposed may seem costly but the feds (FHWA) kick in 80% minimum. Based on the time frame, the 301/50 overpass improvement you quote may have been an ARRA project funded at 100%. My recent 39M bridge project in DC was but that funding is expired now. It did work to improve the local economy. I spend my money locally.
