Does it bother anyone that there will be a 10K run across the bridge this Sunday which will cause Major delays! (See below.) I feel that I will be trapped in my home all day Sunday because I will not venture out in the traffic nightmare that WILL exist. You would think local residents and business would have a say in the major headache this will cause.
Thoughts anyone?

It's for charity, and it's only one day. Run all you errands on Saturday.

To be fair local residents were a part of the planning process very early on. I attended a public town hall meeting that was publicized in the newspaper last week. There were very few folks in attendance. There are 300 shuttles handling runners and spectators to minimize the impact of traffic and individual cars. Will there be traffic? Yes but there are many local charities that will be benefit from this event. Local business stands to benefit as well as the race organizers have set up happy hour specials on Friday night at many local restaurants/bars for race participants. They have done the same for Saturday night with many local restaurants/bars hosting the runners to carb up for the race. The first responders that help on the Bay Bridge are also a part of the fundraiser at the finish line festivities and they stand to raise quite a bit for their department. The public is welcome to come out to the finish line to cheer on the runners and there will be great bands, food vendors, and fun for all!

no different than any othet Sunday in Summer. At least they are warning us. There probably won't be that much traffic because of the early notices. Usually when the mta puts out these traffic warnings most avoid the bridge and traffic becomes managable for others. You can probably still go where you want to go.

So you are whining about this now? It's been announced for at least a year and half.
It's going to be great for charity
How is it any different then the bay bridge walk that went on for many many years?
Traffic isn't going to be that bad and no different then any other summer Sunday
You will live

I guess some do not remember the days of the Bay Bridge Walk. Sheesh, we are talking about a race on ONE day and you'll have plenty of time to run errands before and after.

THE BAY 10K" TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF BAY BRIDGE'S EASTBOUND SPAN Motorists Should Anticipate Heavy Traffic & Delays on Nov. 9
Weather permitting, the eastbound span of the Bay Bridge (US 50/301) will be closed temporarily to traffic on Sunday, Nov. 9, from approximately 2 a.m. - 2 p.m. Two-way traffic operations will be in place on the westbound span. One lane of traffic will operate in each direction on the westbound span, with the center lane closed to traffic. NOTE: The center lane may open to traffic intermittently to help reduce westbound delays.
In addition, two detours will be in place on the Eastern Shore due to the race: - The off-ramp from US 50 eastbound to MD 8 will be closed during the event. A detour will be in place to direct motorists to the next exit at Thompson Creek Road. From there, motorists will travel westbound on MD 835 to the signal at MD 8.
- The on-ramp from southbound MD 8 to westbound US 50 also will be closed during the event. All traffic attempting to access westbound US 50 will be directed to MD 18, to the roundabout at Castle Marina Road and onto US 50 west.
Motorists using the Bay Bridge on Nov. 9 will experience significant delays throughout the day and early evening. To avoid delays, motorists are urged to travel prior to 6 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

This is the least of my worries. I saw the postings earlier in the wk so I did my stuff on the western shore yesterday. No big deal. No different than summer beach traffic. I dont go near 50 unless it is absolutely my last resort on Sunday. I'm glad it's at least fairly nice for the run.

Some of us do not have a choice and have to travel to the western shore for work. I will be in the traffic thinking good thoughts.

What a great event. Went off without a hitch. Very little traffic at all When given plenty of notice, folks plan well and avoid the mess. As for going off without a hitch, I have heard the same, it was a cake walk and no issues in spite of some "the sky will fall" whining. The good is it puts this area on the map in a positive light. I am certain all the businesses around here saw some uptick in sales from the visitors.
