Just was told Highs in Chester is closing on the 29th. Stinks, lowest price gas on the Island

Wonder why, it's a shame.Lets hope we don't have another empty lot. Poor access from Route 50 but they knew this when they built it. Never very busy. They are walking away from a big investment You have to remember the gamble people take opening a new business. It's rarely a sure thing. Adams Rib and the new yogurt place seem to do well. How about 5 Guys? They never seem busy. Other 5 Guys seem to do really well.

All the busineses on that strip have a terrible location IMHO. Five guys would make twice or three times the business if they were near the old safeway.

Second time Highs has closed a store on Kent Island. May be the third time they will get it right.

There's a reason for the real estate mantra "Location, location, location" and here is an example on full display.

All the gas on the island is fairly competitively priced. Besides, profits on gas are only a few pennys in the first place. You have to sell a lot of gas, and hope they come in the store spending money to turn a profit.

High's will be re-branding as Carroll Fuel. To clarify, Carroll Fuels bought High's and are in the process of re-branding some stores. The location at Red Apple will be re-branded, not closing.

Don't care what they call them as long as I can get that great eggnog there. High's will be re-branding as Carroll Fuel. To clarify, Carroll Fuels bought High's and are in the process of re-branding some stores. The location at Red Apple will be re-branded, not closing.

Once those apartments back there are full, all of those places along there from Adams to The Winery will be doing very well. They would be crazy to just close up. BTW, there's a new sushi place going in where "Oh My Chocolate" used to be. They will do very well there.

New sushi restaurant? Hmm. Adams, Sweet Frog, 5 Guys, Carmines, and a sushi place all walking distance from the new condos. Pretty cool.

I always wondered why they closed Highs store when they were in the building where Radio Shack is now. It was built as a Highs. Here again, a brand new store. My wife and I would go up there and get ice cream cones on Friday nights in the summer and sit and watch the "Reach The Beach" people coming over after sitting in the backups on the other side, only to get the same here with the Narrows bridge openings. They would pull into Highs there to get something and the kids complaining and husband and wife bickering. I used to think what a way to start a vacation!
BTW, I was in Radio Shack yesterday and the 2 guys working there were waiting to hear if their store was going to be closing.

It's packed because it's the only game in town. Service suck, sushi is loose, cooked food is supermarket quality at best. Decor is really nice, but that's it. If they get any real competition they are done.
