I just heard today that there will soon be a roundabout to replace the traffic light at the Dominion Rd/Main St. intersection! Wow this should be fun...

Awsome! I hope they put a McD's in there as well because KI residents love Roundabouts with a McD evwn more.

That intersection would require a double lane roundabout. There is not enough room.

Sounds like BS. I agree with Cranky's statement on it.

I don't see how this would even be feasible either but a couple of us in our workplace were told by the guy who more or less manages the Kent Town Market shopping center. Not sure where his info came from.

In general circles are probably safer in KI then intersections. At intersections the angles for an accident are more direct. So at stop sign intersections, you get more life threatening injuries. In circles, you have more side swipes and less head ons.
But I think Queen Anne county engineers make the circles too small. Additionally, the whole circle can be driven on. So, if you are lazy like me you can just drive straight over the circle, which I do when nobody is looking. They better put speed bumps before the circle if it is right after an exit where drivers go 70MPH+.

The KI traffic circles both involve a mix of State and County roads. I believe most of the engineering is done by State Roads.
The idea of a circle at Main and Dominion might work, but the State would need to buy a whole lot of expensive real estate for it to be done right.
