I am very surprised that as an ex cop he is still standing. Normally that would be a death sentence in prison.

What happened with this? Did he get anywhere or did they deny it? I never met a murderer before until I met this man at several functions when he was running for Sheriff. It still gives me the heebeejeebies.

There's been no update to the Judiciary page on this. I can't imagine that it's still ongoing, over a week since it started, but I suppose that's possible.

Honestly, I think Pete needs some serious counseling. I hope he can get the help he needs.

Counseling?? He got what he needs- 20 years in the slammer for murder.
He was a danger to all of us, and would be again if he gets out. You can't fix folks like him.

The judiciary entry for Pete's post conviction hearing has finally been closed, and it appears that nothing has changed as far as his sentencing.

Don't know. But my understanding is that a petition for post conviction relief is used to contest "procedural errors" in the trial or sentencing portions of a trial. I agree that it would be interesting to see what was alleged. Kind of surprised the press didn't pick up on this since it was covered by local media, at least to some extent.
