We are with Atlantic BB and the last several months our internet speed has been falling. I'm paying for the fastest speed Atlantic offers which should be 70 mbps for download. What we are getting is 1.5 mbps during peak times and the highest we seen is 17.39 again these are download speeds. Atlantic is saying they we are in a "high usage" area and their engineers are working to change it. We have the fastest modem and wireless router but nothing has helped. We live on the island. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there any other company we can use for internet service?

I also pay Atlantic BB for the fastest internet and get no where near what they advertise.

I replaced our Modem last month with they're highest speed(added $6 a month)and the result was little to no improvement whatsoever. Quality of service is mediocre at best.

I've got 30 meg service and it seldom tests out less than 30.
I'd be calling them and getting them out there to check levels and lines.

I had the same problem and like frankf said i called them and had them come out. They checked my lines and found that there was a problem with my line. They replaced the line to my house and did some work at the pole and my speeds were right where they should be. Call them and get them out there to test it.

ABB sucks wind, I never get what I pay for but they are the only game in town. I'm betting they keep adding scribers without upgrading their backbone speed to the internet.

When you measure your speed, be sure your TV boxes are turned off. You may be sharing bandwidth with your TV if you have both.

I started this post back in April and Atlantic BB still has done nothing to correct this issue. The fact is Atlantic BB is charging for speeds upward of 75mbs for downloads but is only providing speeds of 13mbs at best. Most of the time it is less than 5mbs. Please everyone who reads this take the speed test for yourself. go to atlanticbb.com/for-home/internet/test-your-speed make sure you are on their test site because they have told me that no other can test the speed of their servers. BS Compare the results of the test to what you are being charged and post what you find here. Atlantic knows that this is happening but stills charges for a service they are not providing!

I called them a few weeks ago and was told to periodically try the speed tests and they would "adjust" my bill. Has not happened yet. They said my speeds were acceptable. I pay for the highest speed. They said they have long-term problems that they are working on and don't know when it will be fixed.
4/21 - download 10.72, upload 1.11 4/27 - download 9.96, upload 1.14 4/28 - download 10.67, upload 1.17 4/29 - download 10.73, upload 1.15 5/12 at 10 p.m. - download 0.92, upload error 5/12 at 11:20 p.m. - download 0.56, timed out
Today our cable, phone and internet have been cutting out starting at around 3 p.m. I called tonight and got a recording saying there is an area-wide problem.

I just checked mine last night for the first time and got less than 6. When we signed up for the phone, internet and TV package, they said we would get 75MB. Gonna have to check a few more times before I start screaming at them. Does the county have a cable commissioner? I know AAC had one a couple decades ago. Of course, he was useless. We never saw any improvements until a second cable company moved into the same neighborhood. Then, all of a sudden the original company started improving. Too late, though. I never looked back. I only hope the utility they are bringing back into our neighborhood is FIOS.

I will call the county Commissioner office today to see what if anything they can do. I'm thinking of calling the Bay times to see if they will report this

Testing to that address gives you results ONLY back to ABB's server. Useful information if you only want to go back to their servers, but gives you no idea of real world speeds. Though none will be better than the weakest link. www.speedtest.net will show you what real world performance consists of and results will vary depending on what site you use for testing.

Tried the ABB test just now and got "latency test error." Tried the speedtest and got "timed out." Internet is incredibly slow and some pages don't load at all.

I called QAC and the county is currently in negotiations with Atlantic BB over the current contract. The person who is dealing with this for the county is Megan Del-Gaudio. I have called her office and left a voice mail for her to call me back. Will update after I talk to her

Verizon is done building out the FIOS network so that ain't happening even if the market on the island and county was dense enough to support the investment (It isn't). That leaves Charter (who REALLY sucked when they were here before ABB) and Comcast (and we all have or know of horror stories about them) as likely replacements. These guys wouldn't be building new networks (transmission lines etc.) but MIGHT be replacing headend equipment, but most likely buying out existing ABB equipment. So you end up with a different company with potentially crappier service than what we already have.

I just speed tested using both links above. I got almost identical results....75 download and 5 upload. I pay ABB for the high speed package.

I have taken note of all of the concerns expressed here in this forum regarding internet speeds as well as concerns expressed by jack3392. I can assure you, your concerns will be presented to the attorneys handing the negotiations between Queen Anne's County and ABB. Once negotiations are completed, the County will publicize the terms of the new agreement.

Ran the test today on upload and download. looked like a Sine curve. It has dropped out completely 6 or more times today. I went on their text box customer service, waited 10 minutes for a tech to join, didn't happen. Redid it, got someone, they checked, said nothing wrong. I ran a speed test while we were communicating and same results as initially and then it dropped out again so I closed that box. Next I called, was on hold for 15 minutes listening to commercials on how I should upgrade, not going to happen. I hung up. Any alternative to ABB, I will be first in line. The customer service is lacking and the service is general is poor.

Thank You Megan (mdelgaudio) for responding so fast I for one understand that ABB is all we have for internet service but they should be able to charge for 75mps download speed but provide much less without giving us our money back. Thanks again I'll wait to see how the negotiations go

Checked my speed at ABB this morning and it said 75MB. Still doesn't seem that fast though.

Checked my speed today; 21.43 download 5.19 upload. Called ABB to make sure I'm getting credit for the slow speed. My credit for April was $27 and I was told that the credit will be given for May as well. So if you are not getting the speeds you are paying for ask for the credit, they sure as hell are not giving them without the request.

ABB is going out of their way to drive us back to DirecTV today. At least 5 times between 1130 AM and 1230 AM they had a "Required Monthly Test of the Emergency Broadcast System". Prior to this we were getting the RMT about once per day, usually between 11-12 in the morning. It's getting to be stupid.

I am having the same problem and I contacted ABB and told them I was not going to pay $70 per month and only get half of what I'm paying for. For 3 months I received what they call a " slow speed" discount of $35 but, you have to call them and Censored Bad Word Here or you won't get anything. This month I called like usuall and they said I would get the discount but, I did not . So at this time I am calling and Censored Bad Word Hereing to get what I was promised. There is no one else that can give you more than 10 mb. I would say if enough people go to the FCC na dcomplaine about being ripped off or the Maryland PSC maybe we could get some relief without calling every month and hope to get a discount.
