I am not here to ask who to use as much as to complain about a lack of response from Control Heating & Air Conditioning. Sure, I am in the early stages of complaining because I can't even get them to call me. I have left 2 messages and called them 4 times since last Tuesday.
Why am I still interested in hearing from them? I had several people recommend them.
Not sure what the problem is, but I sure hope they needed my money. I will go back to Family or Steele's I guess. I have used both in the past with no problems with either of them. This time, I need to apparently spend $3-$7K and I would have liked another opinion. Maybe they just have so much work at this time of the year that they just don't care about the money, or their reputation.

Be careful with HVAC places. I had problems all winter with my HVAC and several companies came out and each charged me a fortune only to have it break days later. The last company that I used had me convinced that I needed a whole new system after charging me a fortune to get it running. When it broke again, a friend called someone that he knows who works on industrial HVAC units to do a favor and give my system a look. He told me that there is at least 5 years left in the system and had it fixed in a few hours for a only $150 charge. It's been running fine for 2 months and even through the last heat wave...

That's great to hear Rich (the part that someone got it running cheap. I hope it lasts. Steele's told me the compressor was gone ($108). The quote to replace it $2650 and the quote to put a whole new heat pump in around $6200.

Same deal. When my a/c went out last year, I called a number of places, and Control never called me back. While I've seen them around, I'll stick with the guy down the street that got mine fixed fairly cheaply and it is still running great. Like above, was told my system had years left, despite it being on the old side.

I understand your disappointment. Not returning phone calls kills my interest in doing business. That said, I was less than thrilled with one of the local companies we had previously used about 5 years ago, so I decided to take a chance on Control seeing they had received good feedback here on KIO. We've had to call Control out a couple of times in the past year or so (we've got a Goodman, which is like the RC Cola of AC systems), and we have had good experiences with them.

Well I went out to see them today. Even though Google shows them on State St., they haven't been there for 3 years or so. The guys at Lighthouse told me to go over behind Thompson Creek in the business park. I showed up and was rather harsh with the girl at the desk. She said they never got any messages from me and that she is the only one that checks them. By the time, I left, I don't think they would be calling me anyway. This girl didn't bother asking my name or number to have whatever his name is (begins with a G) to call me back. With her there, they seem to me to be missing out on business opportunities.
Then I was talking with my neighbor tonight who is a contract (carpenter) and he nothing but good things to say about the guy. Oh well, there are others out there. Maybe this will help someone else.
