I just realized it's been quite a while since I received The Shore Update paper in my mailbox. I left a message with them earlier but have not received a call back yet. I loved reading that paper. Does anyone know if they are no longer printing?

They are my largest competitor and basically copy everything that I do with Kent Island Online. They copied our Forums, our social media, our design, our coupons... Their print paper is still being mailed weekly, but is likely on its last legs if their business practices have become what they are.

The only thing I use it for is the $5 breakfast coupon from the Jetty.

Works well for starting my woodstove.

I use it to fill my Bates Trucking recycling can. The one I really dislike is the weekly paper wrapped in a plastic bag that is tossed in my driveway every Friday morning, littering in my opinion. Not sure of the name but it goes directly to the green can too.

Tommy hit the nail on the head. I hate that paper being tossed in my driveway. Does anybody even read it? All my neighbors just toss it in the trash can immediately or let it sit there for two or three weeks until it's been run over so many times it deteriorates into nothing.

It's the U.S. Postal Service, not The Update that fails in delivery to all the mail boxes. I'm sure they pay for a proper delivery. I think they do an excellent job and are very community oriented. I'm not sure what ends up in your driveways, but it shouldn't be The Update. Good hard working people IMO.

While they might be good, hard working people, and some enjoy getting it, I don't. It's junk mail to me, a waste of resources, and unneeded expense to those good, hard working people. How do I opt out? (Which I shouldn't have to do, I never asked to receive it in the first place...) Just like the Acme ad that I get each week with it... ALL of it goes right to the trash.

Believe me when I tell you that they are not good people. I met with them, tried to help them, and got stabbed in the back. There are a lot of perfectly good media outlets around here that are run by good people, but they are not one of them. There's a good reason why they can't keep employees there. I'm not just saying this because they are my competition - so is the Bay Times and they are perfectly fine.
