www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bs-md-hogan-bay-bridge-20160830-story.html Lets pretend its now 2026. Perhaps this site will still exist. I'm betting that nothing will be started ten years from now. But at least I'm happy that someone is starting the process. A project like this is bad for a politician because they have to spend a lot of money, but by the time its done they aren't there for the ribbon cutting. What is everyones thoughts? They say they want public input.

Just don't see anything useful coming from it. Don't believe another bridge will be built any time soon and don't believe it will help us here on Kent Island anyway.
1. A new bridge will not reduce congestion. Sure, in the first couple of years it will but after that traffic will increase to meet the available capacity and congestion will be back to what it is now.
2. A third span to Kent Island will increase traffic on the island, require widening of route 50 with all kinds of traffic problems during the construction, and will make the congestion on our side roads even worse.
3. A third span at a different location, highly unlikely, will take some traffic away but will also bleed off funds to maintain the existing bridge.
4. Someone is going to have to pay for it - think about the increased tolls for the ICC.

How many "studies" have been done previously?
Hogan. Enriching his "study" buddies with $5 million of taxpayer dollars and kicking the can down the road for another 5+ years.

i cannot remember if it was this article or another but the past studies were mainly just feasibility and where they might go and the approx costs. Isn't this supposed to be the first part of the EPA requirements that need to be addressed before they can do any building?
Just imagine all the lawsuits if they chose another location other than QA! No one in Kent is going to be excited about a new bridge, same with Dorchester. I say there is no way they decide to go through taylors island. If you've ever been down there you would see that they would need to beef up Rt 16 considerably. The whole area is a swamp.
they mention that the old bridge has a limited life so its my guess they build a new one here that is just much bigger so they can eventually get rid of the 2 lane bridge. It takes 20 plus years to plan and build a bridge. If they spend all their efforts building a kent county bridge they are going to immediately need start building one to replace our old bridge.
