Annie's Paramount Steak & Seafood House at Kent Narrows will be moving to a new 2 story building, to be built in front of Red Eyes Dock Bar upon expected approval. Red Eyes will be knocking down their current indoor use building and a new restaurant to house Annie's will be built. Red Eye's Dock Bar will remain and also be improved. High-end apartment buildings with over 200 units will be built in Annie's current location. More development including retail shops are also in the works. Last year I was told that a Hyatt Hotel was going there too, but that hasn't been mentioned in a while.

The Hyatt will be built at the old Knot 10 sight, The 200 plus units that will be built in Mears will be 5 story buildings. There will be 4 or 5 of these and will be the tallest in the area. Nice way to ruin the area. More traffic flooding. One thing about this county pay the right people off and you can get anything done. The new Harris Teeter will be built right in the middle of a critical area by the new fire department. Strange how things get done around here. Just my own opinion.

You might want to educate yourself as to the zoning regulations in the County. Particularly the difference between critical area intensive development areas and resource conservation areas.
You allege that growth is allowed only when "the right people are paid off". I'm curious to know who those people are, and any examples of any payments made in the past. I have lived here for over 35 years and am not aware of ANY case ever being brought against elected or appointed officials of Queen Anne's County regarding improper payments in return for favors.
Back up your nonsense, or knock it off.

There are always deals, donate something to the county and we will approve it. There is a community on the water that never should have been built back in 2004. I wont mention the name but look how it was done. This is one of the counties that it's who you know that helps and if you done believe this well..........

I wonder what they do about the grading of the area. If it rains for a few days the parking lot gets flooded. Has anyone seen site plans? Will all the docks and marina still exist?

Hear is a link to the Planning Commissions hearing for the Mears project. This is a huge file and you will need a good internet connection. The Mears part starts around 170 minutes. You can use the bar at the bottom to move to this part. It explains the whole project. Mears Planning Commission Video

What's wrong with building in Critical Area, Alan?? Nothing at all. I wanted to do a patio that is 2 feet within the critical area and the county said no. I guess I need to do the right thing, $$$$ Please..... if you're referring to Narrows Pointe, that's not "Critical Area" they are referring to. If you are within 1000 feet of water or wetlands, you are in Critical Area. A patio that is on the back of one of those houses would be about 2' from the water. Actually, there is a "buffer" zone between the homes and the water. Buffer Zones are VERY difficult to get around. That's why they said "no".

I would like to know how Mears is getting all those permits to fill in wetland areas.

I would like to know how Mears is getting all those permits to fill in wetland areas. That whole area is nothing but dredge spoils from the Narrows dredging over the years. Maryland law exempts dredge spoil areas from being or becoming wetlands. That is how the old outlets and the Holiday Inn were built on what looks like wetlands.
