If you missed today's 5pm broadcast of channel 11 news, John Sherman has been investigating. He reports that there are several lies and exaggerations on Mr. Cassells resume. When asked on camera by John Sherman how important it is for a politician to be honest when running for office? Ben replies, "It's everything". Then John Sherman asks him why his resume says that he has a BA in Marketing from the University of Maryland when the University has no record of any degree for a Ben Cassell. Mr Cassell stutters and replies that he doesn't want to talk about this and quickly walks away. John Sherman follows him and continues to question whether Ben was in fact an associate professor at another college and Ben replies "I never claimed to be". John Sherman goes on to report that Mr. Cassell is listed as an associate professor on many resumes, including advertising from the League of Womens Voters. Very interesting news? ?

You just cant trust anybody these days. It doesn't look to good for there supporters either such as Sen Pipkin. I know a few other candidates running that aren't very trustworthy and also have integrity issues.

The story from WBAL: TheWBALChannel.comCandidate's Resume Raises Credibility QuestionsPOSTED: 6:26 pm EST November 1, 2006 UPDATED: 6:58 pm EST November 1, 2006 SUDLERSVILLE, Md. -- A WBAL TV 11 News investigation has uncovered information that raises serious questions about Queen Anne's County Commissioner Ben Cassell's credentials in his bid for re-election. A 2002 candidate questionnaire discovered by 11 News listed a resume for Cassell that showed he had a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and an associate professor title from the University of Wisconsin. Both schools have no record of either claim. 11 News reporter John Sherman confronted Cassell about the claims Tuesday. (Sherman: "How important do you think it is that Politicians are honest with the public?" Cassell: "I believe that is everything." Sherman: "Sir, do you have a Bachelors Degree from the University of MD?" Cassell jerks, turns, waves his arms in the air, and walks (runs) away saying: "I don't, I don't, I don't have time for this." Sherman follows him with more questions . . . .NK )Cassell became flustered and said, "I don't care to answer this." When Sherman asked again, he said, "I'm not answering any questions for you." Later, Cassell admitted he taught at Wisconsin in the school of business but said he never claimed he was an associate professor. (Cassell mumbled "it must have been a typo" regarding the Associate Professorship.)Cassell has been endorsed by Gov. Bob Ehrlich and is considered a favorite to win re-election next week. To GUEST - Mike has always doubted Mr. Cassell's credentials, going back to before the last election. If you really think he's behind this don't you think he would have done it 2 months ago when it could have helped his campaign and not now? You may not like how Mike presents himself but he's never lied, his honesty has never been an issue.

Why does Guest want to shoot the messenger? I for one want to know about it if a politician blatantly lies on a resume and make as informed a decision as possible on election day. I hope Mr. Cassell responds to these allegations before then.

He (Cassell) didn't respond. What is he going to say now that he didn't/counldn't say then? I'm sure he will figure out a way to weasel out of this mess. I wish this would have came out before the primaries.

Well well, I would imagine that Ben will have to come out with some public explanation, so I won't scrutinize. I'll say this, as for his opponet, and this is just my opinion based on nothing more than what I've seen and read, I wouldn't want Fordonski on the board if she were the absolute last option. Seems like someone who will do nothing but scrutinize and meddle with everything. Bringing the county to a halt and opening us up to lawsuits from any and everyone. And since when does managing at ATT qualify for public office. Can't imagine anyone would want this in the county as well "I served on the Illinois Industrial Pollution Control Financing Authority and was active with a group of citizens who successfully forced the Du Page County Commission to include federally subsidized low- and moderate-income housing in larger Planned Unit Developments."
Bring on the section 8 housing to Kent Island and Centreville whoohoo. My opinion is that Ben Cassell was the voice of reason a lot of the time with the current commissioners. Fair and balanced and common sense. The total no growth contingent is not what the county needs it will cost more in the long run in lawsuits and increased taxes for us citizens.

Fair and balanced and common sense. The total no growth contingent is not what the county needs it will cost more in the long run in lawsuits and increased taxes for us citizens."Is this true? Is she really one of those designer ghetto people that want to have welfare recipients living on prime land (like in Annapolis)? If true, she lost my vote. People work all of their lives very hard to afford living in places like our area and building a welfare housing area in a place like this is just wrong. I bring up College Creek in Annapolis as a great example of what I'm talking about. Its multi-million dollar land that is waterfront, backed up to the beautiful St. Johns campus, and walking distance to City Dock. Some half-wits decided that section 8 housing was needed, so they built nice brick waterfront homes and moved a bunch of section-8 slackers in there. Since then, there have been murders, rapes, and a ton of burglaries at St Johns, more crime along State Circle, and decreased enrollment at the college. I understand the need for section-8 housing, but by placing it in an area that hard working people can't even afford, it's just blatantly wrong. It also doesn't exactly give the residents of the designer ghettos any initiative to move out; because a regular house in a regular area is a step down for them Ahh, Maryland logic boggles my mind. I see that they have built one of these designer ghettos right as you enter Centreville too. Wait and see what happens there in a year...

Ben sure showed his true colors on T.V. - He could not control his his body language when the reporter confronted him with the truth. Guilt was written all over his face. Now I want to hear what E.J. Pipkin has to say. Birds of a feather flock together. I would rather be in a fox hole with Carol Fordonski when the enemy is on attack, than Professor Ben Cassell. I'm a Republican who will vote Democrat in this election. Mrs. John Q. Public

O.k., I'm throwing my hat into the ring! Here are my qualifications: I'm a current adult college student (Chesapeake) and I am a teacher there as well. I'm for a stronger ethics standard. I DO NOT want water and sewer any farther down Rt 8. I will abolish the "quota" system in the sheriffs office. I will not support any "chain" restaurants any where on Kent Island. I will not allow any more: gas stations, car lots or grocery stores. I'm for farmers rights. Howver, if they want to sell, I will try and purchase more farms and turn them into park land. I will pay teachers a "living wage" and get rid of all the trailers. I will support slot machines but only at the track. I will advocate building a new bridge crossing south of Annapolis. I will support a smoke free Q.A.C. I'll do want ever it takes to get all the empty stores at the Narrows filled with new business. I will support a law that requires homeowners on septic to get them pumped, at a minimum, every 3 years.
Lastly, I will not accept any campaign money.
Did I miss anything?
Can I win?

If I offered you a buck for your campaign would you accept?

Hey now Frank, Greensboro has no section 8 housing... which is great. I'm glad they keep it in Queen Anne's county. I love my small town. There is talk of them building a grocery store complete with a shopping center, people are excited!
