Anybody know any details about the accident this afternoon on Rt 8 between a police car and a black S10 SUV? My son took a bunch of pictures and emailed them to me. It looks pretty bad. The police car is beyond totaled. The roof had to be cut off to extract the driver. Anybody know if he was OK? They said the SUV was flying down Rt 8 (well beyond the posted speed limit). This happened in the residential area where kids are always around, right about when school was letting out. If there ever was a reason for the bike path, this is it!

Have a garage full of parts already that need to be handled and a fuel system on a 37 y.o. Mach1 that needs to be addressed.
MrsMule has other plans for the ol' fart already. The Mach1 and the parts have to wait.

I hear ya Frank. Real bad according to the fly-over by WJZ and MrsMule.
Bchevy: Not extra... parts that are needed to make it right. Too tired, too mad, too hungry, too hot out, usually too thirsty.
You know... You've been there. I'm sure.
Crap, I haven't even mailed my check in yet. That'll happen tomorrow.

Below is from "The Capital." I hope the boy isn't railroaded.
Deputy hurt in Kent Island crash By RYAN BAGWELL and SCOTT DAUGHERTY Staff Writers A Queen Anne's County sheriff's deputy was seriously hurt yesterday after his cruiser slammed into another vehicle on his way to a Kent Island call.
Firefighters rescued Deputy Charles Green from his patrol car that wound up in a nearby ditch along Route 8 during the 2:30 p.m. crash, officials and witnesses said.
He was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where hospital officials said last night he was in serious condition, but stable.
Two teens in the 1986 Chevrolet Blazer Deputy Green's car hit were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries, said Sgt. Craig Ingram, a state police trooper with the Centreville Barracks.
He declined to release their names, but said both were from Stevensville.
State police last night were still investigating the wreck that happened near Wicomico Road, about five miles south of the Bay Bridge, in a mainly residential area. Charges were pending.
The deputy was driving south when he hit the northbound Blazer near Wiggins Corner, a trooper at the scene said.
Witnesses told The Capital the deputy did not have his lights and sirens on, but drove into oncoming traffic to pass a car in front of him.
That's when he struck the SUV, which ended up in the middle of the two-lane highway, witnesses said.
But police said the teenage driver made a left turn in front of the deputy, leading to the crash.
"Evidence at the scene indicated the collision took place in the southbound lane, so there wasn't any evidence to prove that theory," Sgt. Ingram said.
Deputy Green has been with the sheriff's office for nearly 10 years, said Cpl. Earl Johnston, another Queen Anne's County deputy.
Investigators didn't know how fast he was going, but said it wasn't excessive.
Wendy Canter, who lives on Wicomico Road, said Deputy Green appeared coherent. He was able to radio for help, even with his face covered in blood.
"I wish I hadn't seen his face," said Diane Harper, another Kent Island resident who ran outside to see what happened. "I can't believe the cop actually survived."
Mrs. Canter said the two other men involved in the crash got out of their vehicle and were limping around the road after the accident, grabbing their sides and legs.

It was an accident.
Hopefully, the deputy followed all agency policies during his response to the call, and that there is no long term affect on the teenagers future.
Whatever the cause, we should all hope they recover soon from their injuries.

First, Let's hope the truth is given light here no matter who's "fault" this was.
I met a cop recently... he was working for a campaign for sheriff in a neighboring county. he ws hoping to get a good gummint job wherein he'd get a fat salary, a "really nice take-home car", and not have to work much if at all...
Now that irritates me as I know people paying taxes over there, but...
A cop sped past the house while we were working, and I pointed it out to him - WTF is up with that... he speeds faster than anyone else in that car w/o lights or anything, let alone a real reason. The response was that "he should!"
Now at first I laughed and thought he meant because people shouldn't be speeding, so the cop's faster pace should be the highest in the 'hood.
Instead, he explained (HIS WORDS) "that's his god-da*n God given right to speed. He should. We're the police, we can speed wherever and whenever and however fast we want."
After a conversation that eventually grew angry on both sides, I kicked him out of the house. We've not spoken since. That's the mentality, he says, of all cops.
The above story says there is no evidence of a left turn, though the cops say there was a left turn. The above story suggests the cop, lights off, may have been speeding and passing a car.
I truly hope the truth is exposed to light, and no matter whose fault it is. But the above conversation concerns me, and influences my gut reaction.
Maybe it's just an irrelevant story and I read what I wanted in the above article.

According to the person the deputy passed before he hit the boys, the boys were stopped and waiting to turn. The cop had no lights/siren on. But according to the article, "charges are pending" by the cops who are investigating themselves.
No one wants bad accidents or people to be hurt. While we are praying for the recovery of all involved, let's also thank God that no one was killed and think about how outraged we would be if this happened to our own kids. Let's also ask God to give the person responsible for this accident the courage to be truthful. While we're at it, let's pray that the teenage boy gets a good lawyer.
Think about this accident next time you see a cop speeding with no lights or siren or when a deputy is on your bumper. It could be you next time, or worse, one of your kids.

Matt - I think guys like the idiot you mention are definitely in the minority. With an atitude like his, I wouldn't even hire him as a security guard at K-Mart - apologies to all competent security guards.
Yeah, I think we've all seen the renegade cops thinking their NASCAR drivers, but I've also witnessed many doing not much more than the speed limit with lights on and others who inched their way through intersections.
Don't know what caused this accident, but I think everyone needs to give the investigators the time determine what happened.

I think that it's important to remember that this was an accident, and not done on purpose by either side. It might just have been poor judgement on one or both sides and that's simply it.
Crazy bad stuff seems to happen on Route 8. It's the "Pet Semitary" road (if you ever saw the movie / read the Steven King book).
