Narrative:
Dep. Gardner responded to the residence for a reported Credit Card Theft totaling over $20,000.00. The victim, Mr. O'Shea reported that someone had fraudulently purchased various personal items totaling $20,414.96 from a business account in the victim's name. The matter has been assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sheriff's Office.

Narrative:
Dfc. Fraser responded to meet with the victim in reference to telephone harassment. The victim had received approximately 40 telephone calls on her cell phone from another subject. Dfc. Fraser located the suspect and was able to interview the person. At this time the case remains open for further investigation.

Attempted Suicide @ Stevensville

Incident: Attempted Suicide
Date Reported: 04/13/09 @ 1732 Hours
Location: Kimberly Way, Cloverfields, Stevensville, MD.
Victim: Male (37) of Stevensville, MD.
Narrative:
Dfc. Nielsen was dispatched to location after a passerby saw a vehicle with a hose stuck into a tailpipe with the other end into the passenger area. When Dfc. Nielsen arrived he located a lethargic male inside the vehicle and a strong odor of exhaust fumes. The subject told the deputy that he was trying to kill himself. The subject was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.

Narrative:
Deputy Phan was dispatched to location after a relative of the woman found her on the floor of her hotel room. The female had taken prescription medication and beer and had left a note with her intentions. The woman was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center by ambulance for treatment and evaluation.

Investigation of the fatal crash that took the life of Chief Charles F. Clough Jr. is continuing. Investigators from the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office expect to have their report completed early next week and a press release with their findings will be issued at that time.

What's with all the attempted suicides? Is the county taking any actions in the communities? I was wondering the same thing; seemed like a lot, but then again, it is close to a couple of holidays, and holidays tend to be "trigger" moments. But, it still seemed to me like a lot for such small communities.

Driving without a License in Church Hill
On 04/17/09 at approximately 2112 hrs. A/Cpl. Goodman observed a vehicle operating with a tail light equipment violation. Upon effecting a vehicle stop in the area of Main Street @ Cemetary Lane in Church Hill, A/Cpl. Goodman made contact with the driver / defendant who was identified as Gloria Cruz Martinez,23 years of age, from 100 Blk of Agnes Street, Church Hill, MD. An investigation later reveled that the Martinez did not have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle. Martinez was placed under arrest and transported to the sheriff's office for processing.

Driving Under the Influence in Grasonville
On 04/18/09 at approximately 0235 hrs. Sgt. Meil effected a traffic stop for traffic violations on a 1995 Cadillac bearing MD Tags at W/B Rt. 50 @ Nesbit Road, Grasonville, Md. The vehicle was operated by the Kevin Vernell Handy Jr.100 Blk of Fox Run, Grasonville, MD Handy's eyes were red and glossy. Further observations observed were a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the Handy's breath / person. Handy admitted consuming alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening.
Field sobriety tests were given and performed. Handy was placed under arrest after his road side tests. Handy was later released to a family member.

Motor Vehicle Accident On 04/19/09 at approximately 1335 hrs, Dfc. Schwink responded to Bennett Point Road at Nash Drive in regards to a MVA with personal injury. Investigation revealed the operator of a 2008 Toyota was traveling N/B on Bennett Point Road near Nash Drive when the victim a juvenile male riding a bicycle pulled in front of the 2008 Toyota vehicle causing the collision. The victim was transported to Easton Hospital for treatment of injuries. The investigation is continuing, charges are pending

CDS Violations, four juveniles charged- Stenensville
On 04/17/09 at approximately 2017 hrs, Dfc. Nielsen responded to the Tower Gardens Beach area in Stevensville in regards to a complaint of juveniles hanging out there and utilizing drugs. Deputies responded and observed in plain view a controlled dangerous substance in several vehicles present which was identified as suspected Marijuana. Further investigation led to confessions from the suspects and additional seizure of CDS paraphernalia. Four juvenile males were released on scene to their parents and juvenile referrals were filed with the department of juvenile services for Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia.

Attempted Robbery Arrest - Grasonville
On 04/18/2009 Detective Stouffer of the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff-Criminal Investigations Division, received a complaint of an attempted armed robbery which occurred on April 17, 2009. The victim advised that Carolan and a juvenile female approached the victim in the rear parking lot of Holly's Family Restaurant after hours on April 17, 2009. An altercation ensued and the juvenile female displayed a knife and attempted to rob the victim of her purse and money. The juvenile female and the victim struggled resulting in several bruises and minor scratches about the victim's arms and face. A witness arrived on location and the juvenile female retreated away from the victim. At this time Carolan approached the victim and punched the victim in the face. Carolan and juvenile female then left the area. The victim suffered only minor injuries and refused medical treatment. On April 18, 2009 Detective Stouffer and members of the Patrol Division of the Office of the Sheriff executed a traffic stop on Carolan and she was placed under arrest. Carolan was subsequently taken before the District Court Commissioner for the above charges where she was released on $1500 unsecured bond. Additional charges are pending against Carolan and the female juvenile in this case. Case remains open for continued investigation.

Remember:
Anytime anyone say "im going to kill myself" to garner attention from a abused spouse or what have you... they will call me an "attempted suicide". From my past experience.. if they said those words, whether they tried or not.. they called it that.

2nd Degree Assault Arrest- Queenstown
On 04/20/2009 at 1914 hours the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office responded to the 100 block of Scottown Road in Queenstown, Maryland for a Domestic Assault.
On arrival of Sheriff's deputies a male was seen throwing a mattress and some of his belongings out the front door. Deputies spoke to the male who was 17 years of age who reported that he and his girlfriend were arguing.
The girlfriend was identified as Charlotte L. Moran, 26 years of age told sheriff's deputies that her and her 17 year old boyfriend were arguing and that she was assaulted by him. The victim Ms. Moran had visible signs of being assaulted and was taken to Easton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The 17 year old male was charged on a juvenile referral for second degree assault and released to the custody of his parent pending a juvenile hearing.

Stolen Motorcycle Tag - Stevensville
Sometime between 04/04/09 and 04/16/09 some unknown suspect had stolen the registration plate off of a black and silver colored Suzuki motorcycle. The Registration plate is 5D1226 and was registered to David Watkins of 328 North Lake Drive, Stevensville, Maryland. It was stolen off the motorcycle that was enclosed in an unlocked outside garage.

Stolen Validation Sticker from Registration Plate - Chester
Sometime between 04/01/09 and 04/16/09 some unknown suspect had stolen the tag validation sticker off of a 1991 Mazda Navajo. The vehicle is currently registered to an address in the 600 block of Blenny Lane, Chester, Maryland. The victim Mark Gillespie did not know where the theft occurred.

CDS Arrest - Barclay
On 04/15/2009 at approximately 1659 hours, Deputy Parkinson was on patrol on Route 301 near route 302 and stopped a 1997 Buick Century passenger car operated by Bradley Cheers Kornegay for a speeding violation. A K-9 scan of the vehicle was completed and the K-9 alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed suspected marijuana. Bradley Cheers Kornegay was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and cited for speeding.

Burglary / Theft Stevensville On 04/21/2009 at approximately 0730 hrs, DFC Brockman responded to 100 Block Baltimore Road in Stevensville, MD for a theft of property from a vehicle, as well as a burglary and theft from a shed at the same address. Investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's (Abbey Stokes) vehicle and took a bank check card valued at $1. Unknown suspect(s) also entered the victim's (Raymond Stokes, Jr.) shed and removed a Craftsman air compressor valued at $350. Burglary Stevensville On 04/20/09 Deputy Kellogg was dispatched to 700 Block of Bayside Drive, Stevensville, Maryland for a past 1st Degree Burglary. The victims (Paul and Elizabeth Fitch) stated that a 2000 Toyota truck had belonged to their Daughter. This vehicle was parked in their garage. The garage was locked and was attached to their home. The victim's daughter passed away and the vehicle was left in the garage. Sometime between 12/29/08 and 01/07/09 some unknown suspect gained forceful entry to the residence and removed the vehicle from the garage. The vehicle was recovered in the possession of a former family member. Case is currently under investigation and review from the States Attorney. Burglary - Chestertown On 04/16/09 Dfc. Steenken was dispatched to a complaint of burglary of a residence on Pine Chip Road, Chestertown, Maryland. Dfc. Steenken met with the victim and was told that there was a legal divorce between her and her husband and that she owned the home in question. The victim alleged that her Ex-husband had gained entry to the garage and stolen items that belonged to her. This case is currently under investigations and review of the States Attorney.
