The Islander Motel?
Rod and Reel Motel?
Kent Motel?
Circle Restaurant?
Gil Dunn's?
4 Season's Restaurant?
Frampton's Store?
Grollman's Store?
W E. Denny and Son?
Bitorf Rambler?
Tastee Freeze?
Sparks Oil Company?
Bell's Gift Shop?
Ahhhhh the good 'ole days! ;D

Yeah, Fredricksburg that's where I meant. In the shopping center, the drive thru is a little hard to get to? Like 5 miles from that airport.

YUCK.... We were secret shoppers for C'D's when it was here. It was a chore to go in there for free food. I couldn't imagine paying for it. And it wasn't NEAR as long ago as that list up top.

Yep, Poseidon , use to be Sewards Point Marina and was owned by Earl Seward..................Now Mears Point and Anne's.
Don't forget the "shanty's" that use to be on the east side of the Narrows...........use to be a pretty rough place. A lot of oyster shuckers and crab pickers lived there.
Oh yea, Rocky's Liquor which is now the real estate place at the corner of Wells Cove road that goes back to the Jetty----------which use to be called "Portside"

I know that they weren't over here, but I really miss "Little Tavern". Those were the best mystery meat burgers in the world!

Hi Guys
New to the board, but have lived on Kent Island tooo long.
Here's a remember for you.
Remember an open gas station on Rt 8 across from the entrance to Matapeake?
The Rod and Reel Motel was down on 50 near Holly's.

Yep, Downey's was the tastee freeze or "the freeze" as we use to call it. Ride around and "breeze the freeze"
No traffic circle at Rt 8 and 50....just a traffic light. The kent motel was on the south side of the Rt 8 and 50 intersection.

OK, the light. WE came over here and bought a Gravely tractor out of Cloverfields back in the late 70's.
The remnants of the Kent Motel was still here for a while after we moved here..

Bittorf Rambler. ....What is now the Western Auto. Western Auto started in the old shopping center. The Tastee Freez was originally owned by Dudley Sparks. His general store was where Baker's Liquors is now. His son ran the Freez in the summer. A school teacher in the winter. Downey bought it in the 60's and added inside seating. It was originally a walk up to a window and order, when it was built in the 50's. This picture is a likeness not the original here.

Shoreman - it is cool to hear some of the history in the area. I've only been here for 5 years, and before that was one of those people we now "love to hate", beach goers or as some put it "tourists". I only remember a few things as landmarks; Holly's, the bridge ("Dad, are we almost there yet"), roadside chicken BBQ's, the Rt. 301/Rt. 50 split, being stopped at the old Narrows Bridge (it took forever), farms, farms, and more farms. Those were the days, a shame we had to grow up

So true so true. Seems like everything changes but I can't think of a better place to live than on the "eastern shore".

I remember the stops my grandfather would make on the way to Bucktown to go hunting, That Igloo/frozen food place in Trappe, still there 1st chance/Last chance liquors that used to be at the foot of the Choptank Bridge going into Cambridge, and a Gas station that's still standing on the right side of 50, past the new Royal Farms but before Bucktown Rd.

Bittorf Rambler. This picture is a likeness not the original here. It's funny that you said that, as soon as I saw the picture I thought that it was one that I know of in GA that is still standing.
