No conspiracy here. Many staff members of Shore legislators live in QAC. What better way to assess the proverbial pulse of the people on issues than a forum like this?

O'Malley can be voted out of office next election when we can convince our good neighbors in Balt. County, Montgomery, Howard and PG Counties to not vote democratic every election. Those were the only counties he won in the last gubitnorial election. They also happen to be the most populated counties.
Next we'll be getting taxed to clean the dirt off the jersey walls on the east bound span....

Don't we put any dirt on the jersey walls going westbound? I forgot, only metal railings going westbound.

Here is an awesome quote "The Maryland Transportation Authority has a rigorous annual inspection program. Moreover, the Authority has worked diligently in the past couple of years to strengthen its inspection program, which already exceeds federal standards and is conducted by independent licensed engineering consultants. But we won't rest on those facts alone. Governor O'Malley helped us bring the nation's best minds together last fall in a Peer Review Group to thoroughly examine our inspection program and identify opportunities for enhancing the process. The Group has met several times already and expects to have a final report in April. We appreciate Senator Pipkin's support of our work to help ensure that we have the best inspection program in the country for Maryland 's bridges and tunnels." Retrieved from wjz.com/local/toll.roads.drivers.2.903722.htmlSoooo, if they have been improving for years, how could they possibly have missed what happened over the summer? I am not a bridge engineer, but, I am am an engineer and the remediation they had to do was very dramatic for what they described as a "small structural deficiency". If these inspections are improving, how dangerous was it two summers ago? Maybe the "surplus" should have been spent improving the bridge? Second comment, note that the truckers are discussing going around the bridge to avoid the tools. Once they recognize that revenue being lost, where do you think they are going to go to make up the difference? US, thats who. My vote would be to raise non-ez pass rates, but, thats just my humble opinion

Here's the reply I recieved from MDTA:
I say if the reason the the "authority" was created was to pool the toll money to share among the other toll facilities, it's time to abolilsh the "authority", get rid of all the upper and mid level management, and rolll the workers into the State Highway Administration. That shouls save a ton of money. Stop pooling the toll money. Keep it at the facility that it's recieved at for the expenses and upkeep of that facility. I think it's also time for some oversight of some sort, oversight with teeth.
I see talk about a "cost recovery initiative"
HOW ABOUT A COST REDUCTION INITIATIVE?

They can phrase it however they want, but cutting back on the length of the commuter plan doesn't put money in my pocket and it doesn't leave the money that is already there. Shortening the time is going to cost me money. I don't care if it makes it less of a discount, it is going to cost me money.
They can phrase it however they want, but if it's costing me money then it is making money for them.

I saw that Senator Pipkin put together a thing called the commuter bill of rights or something like that concerning the bridge. One part I liked was that if it takes you more than 30 minutes to get through the toll, it is waved.
