So what did you all think of his speech. I actually thought it was pretty good...but they are just words. I hope he can achieve what he sets out to do. I do realize that the President is not Almighty...and before things can get done they have to be approved by so many people...and some of those people add stupid crap to the bill...and then it never makes it to reality...ugh. I hope they can put aside their differences and realize we are all wanting to see things improve. I wish him luck...and as our President he now has my support no matter what my party affiliation is. I've had the history channel on all day, recalling the life of John F. Kennedy. That's my statement.

Barb What I heard was hopeful but I will admit to having it on as background noise today so I didn't hear it in entirety. I just hope that something can be done by the entire government to help bring this economy out of the toilet. Without bankrupting our great-great-grandchildren...hopefully.

As sobering as it was, I thought it was an extraordinary speech.
Only time will tell, if he can lead this country in the direction that he spoke so fervently of.

I saw, I tried to listen, parts of it started to sound like a sermon from his past and then he would calm down. I liked most of it.
I didn't like parts of it,

Well done! Well done!
Yes it will be told in time but the fact that the man has gotten people from all aspects to pull together is more than most & only few have done in the past says much of what CAN BE DONE! I wish the !st family the best & as my Commander in Chief I will stand beside him.

Kudos to you Sharon ! He is in fact our Commander in Chief !!! We all as Americans have a brand new outlook. It's not a out race, nor religion. It's about who is the best leader for our country. Neither black nor white.
But about a positive change that we face. It will not happen tomorrow, it may not happen in the next few months, , however I believe in his daughter Sasha who gave him a thumbs up ! I believe our country is going in the right direction. We have broken the white/black barrier.
YES WE CAN !!!!!!!!

Footfigher....as a Marine, VN vet, and someone of age of 60 I have experience in past elections. Roosevelt went into office his first term with the DOW down by 80 percent......entering his second term...it was up 75%. Bush entered office and the DOW was up 22%....he left office with the DOW down over 25%.
Give this guy a break. He is our leader now. The honeymoon ends tomorrow. Let's see what he does.
Remember history here. Kennedy had a bad situation with the Bay of PIGS. Right? Clinton had nothing to deal with...only Monica....Reagan set the standards for the business community... Give this guy a break. If he screws up..ok. But this is his day. It is not a black/white situation but an AMERICAN DAY.
We are in a bad situation here with the state of economy, stock market, job situation. But remember, he did not create it..he took it over.

Absolutely, he is not solely responsible for the present state of our economy. I just wish the hopeful tone of "everything" lately would have had a better impact on the Market. But, we should have expected it when on Monday (when Wall St was closed), the European and Asian markets were looking rotten. I'm just so tired of bad news, I guess! But, Obama is inheriting it, not creating it (give him time to work with Congress to either help it out or make it worse). I'll hope for the latter....

I spent my day taking my money out of the banks! Its not a very large amount, but its all I have. America is the home of the free and the land of the brave. Not what is mine is yours, what is yours is mine! Also I will give hussan the same respect and chance that the left gave President Bush nothing less nothing more.

The left gave Bush all the chances he needed. He started a war under false pretenses, yet he wasn't impeached.

so he could read lines. he was an actor. give the new guy a minute or so. what a bunch of negative nellies. I'm not a negative Nellie, I am a realist. I think Obama is a smart guy and certainly a gifted orator. I do and will support him as President. I just hope some of his liberal agenda does not come to reality. Are you talking about Reagan? If so, yes he was an actor, and maybe he did read the quote above and maybe it was not original, but it is so true. I tire of comments like funnel's above accusing W of starting a war based on lies. It is sad the Intelligence Agencies in this country cannot make public all the information they have on people and nations who hate us. I suspect that Obama is going to mutter to himself over the next several weeks as he gets briefed on what is really going on in this world: "OMG Batman, what have I gotten myself in to?" Let's face facts. Many of us form our opinions on sound bites and emotion. Few people in this country actually understand or know the truth. There is no sense in launching a rebuttal here about why it was necessary to go after Saddam since many have already formed opinions that were preached by the talking heads and liberal media. Nothing will change their minds. We live in a nation of ADD voters.. incapable or unwilling to fully research and understand the issues. And unfortunately, with all the good the Internet has provided, the negative may outweigh the good. Any knucklehead with a computer can post anything on the web and all too many think it Gospel simply because it is on the web. Best regards, BC "It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first." - Ronald Reagan PS, How many of you know that Ronald Reagan would not go into the Oval Office without a coat and tie out of respect for the office? Contrast that with what slick Willie did in there.

The "truth" comes in many colors and there are some very talented painters both in and out of Govt.
"The ends justify the means" is usually a poor reason for anything.

It is a war that was brewing since the Clinton administration and everybody was on the bandwagon until it got ugly. democratsbeforeiraqwar.blogspot.com/
