Maybe the man truly is that afraid of the condition of the bridge?

His press office sent me that release and invited me as well. They want as many people from the 'Shore as possible to come. My guess on why it's in Annapolis is simply because that's where his office is and where the other political types are.

If he wants to hear about concerns about things like the condition of and the costs of the tolls for the Bridge, more than just the folks on ya'lls side should be going to talk to Pipken! Unfortunately, it affects everyone who has to travel over that thing. (But I understand him wanting to meet with his constituents). Feel free to use me as an example of the "out-of-district" concerned citizen to add to your talks with the man!

Legislative session just started last week. Doing it in Annapolis as he is here for the next 90 days with daily schedules set (committee hearings, etc.) that are unpredictable and keep him busy through the late afternoon, early evening. Also, since the rest of our reps are also here, easier to get them all in the room at the same time. Free parking at the Calvert Street garage after 6PM weeknights - one block away from building.

Plus, give the man credit.. he may be thinking a meeting place in Annapolis is more convenient for the bridge commuters to stop after work than rushing home to the eastern shore for a 6 PM meeting. I understand he is going to serve dogs and beer to anybody with an EZPass. Best regards, BC PS, the dogs and beer is a rumor, but sometimes if enough people believe it there is no choice but to comply..

In the crapital tonight ( I can't believe I still get that paper) Bug shocker, Pipken is against the changes, Astle (rep. for the other side of the bridge) is for them........
I still can't figure out, they want $1.50/month for the EZpass, this system was supposed to have been put in place to ease traffic and save MDTA money... I guess they have found a way to make it cost money, a cost that they now want to pass on to us. Astle was quoted saying something like /no one is forcing anyone to use EZpass....... Yeah, that's right, only MDTA has been advertising it's benefits since day 1...... gimme a break.

Sometimes I wonder about our legislative representation... I guess the majority of them only cross the bridge to go to the beach. Apparently none of them have to use it for work purposes (except for those representing that side of the state). For that matter, I guess none of them have to use any of our state toll roads. Many of the rest of us have no choice, tho'. I am just amazed that none of them have the brains to realize that EZPass keeps gridlock to a dull roar on all of our toll roads, including the bridge. I have been stuck in enough traffic at the tolls at rush hour to know that enticing people to keep EZPass is a good idea. And if they think we are so gullible to not realize they are just imposing ANOTHER TAX (we aren't fooled by the word "fee" anymore), then they are more stupid than we reckoned on. Geez... At least Pipken is listening to his constituents (or making the effort).

Well....so it seems I must retract my earlier statement in this thread. Further reading of posts helped to understand why the meeting was called to be held in Annapolis. I think it would do well for as many who can to stop by the Senate Office Building and try to speak up. I'm already in the parking garage they speak of. Fortunately/unfortunately, I'm usually around the corner from there every Wednesday night working a hearing, but it runs from 6:30 to 8:30 -- unless it withdraws or is a quick one. I'll try to stop in if time allows.

Does E.J. ever miss an oppurtunity to get his ugly mug on television?
God I hope we run a good Republican against this guy next year...

You mean as long as we have a good look'n guy like Mr Kratovil all will be well? I'm not saying I agree with our politicians on a lot of things but at least on the Bridge fiasco and the Emergency Room that we are getting, he has at least done something for us. But I must agree, what a mug!!

Yes he's done some good things in the area but a quick look at the number of state-wide and Federal offices he's run for tells you his heart's in another place. He's basically concerned with self promotion in my view. The only reason he's still our state senator is because he's lost so many other elections. I want a senator representing me that actually WANTS to be my state senator, not somone who is just waiting for a better oppurtunity to come around.

Somehow I knew that was coming! Even though the lie detector's are not reliable and not admissable in court, they mean didly.
Well, Terp I do understand but even if his heart is somewhere else, I have to admit he does get things done.
