I know this isn't anything new with the MTA police issuing tickets on RT 50 before and after the bridge, but do they really have the authority for that area? The MTA is responsible for the bridge and speeders there, but isn't RT 50 traffic, Queen Anne's County's territory? No, I didn't just get a ticket that I'm trying to fight. I also don't have any problem with police being out there as long as it doesn't take any personnel away from being in the neighborhoods. It appears like it is an easy money maker catching speeders through that area, money which could and should be spent on our County. So, isn't that territory covered by the Queen Anne's County Police? The MTA police aren't catching speeders coming right after they come off the bridge, they are about 1/4 mile up the road. Just curious, why that is.

I'm quite sure they have their boundries squarely laid out. Probably came up with an agreement with the State Police that their jurisdiction would go xx miles on either side of the bay bridge. State Police would handle rt 50 beyond that jurisdiction into QA County (although county police are allowed to stop people on rt 50 also)

Who would receive the $$$ from the fine, if MTA issued the citation?

We were told their jurisdiction reached from one mile before the bridge, over the bridge, and one mile after the bridge.

Actually an executive order signed by the previous governor gave them statewide jurisdiction. The fine money from all police goes to the general fund. What really makes me mad is: They work radar up to at least piney creek road on Rt 50 however if there is a disabled vehicle or accident on the same stretch of road, east of Rt 8, the actual MDTA boundry, they will not handle it, they call the State Police. They work radar on west bound traffic in the evening so when there is an accident on the eastbound bridge due to high volume in the evening, they have to drive back accross the west bound bridge and then get back on the eastbound bridge to handle the accident. Go figure

Rich,
The comment was not that bad by the Yankee! Freedom of speech! They were just speaking their mind. Ever body else gets to say what they want on this site. Outlaw, what poor attitude are you talking about. Have I missed something! Accidents happen all the time and yet there is no big controversy. What did the deputy do wrong that caused the accident down on route 8. You lost me! The accident was investigated by an outside agency that has nothing to do with the county sheriff's office. There is no big cover up! This is not Watergate or our president lied to the people on why we are evading Iraq! It was a darn two car collision. Thats all! Period. What exactly is your problem with the Queen Anne's Police other than they travel above the posted limit, as 99 percent of the motorists do?

Frank, True but the administrator Rich closed down the thread Accident on route 8 because a writer chose to express there opinion. A writer who called them self Yankee in acted three freedom of speech. Just there opinion. I thought that was the point of this site! America, freedom. Rich must be apart of the government who wants censorship. Sorry Rich, Bad call my friend!

Whatever. A short while ago I was on Route 50 and a cop flew past me like I was standing still, from Montgomery County no less. It's the same everywhere. People who don't want to hear about it are the ones who complain the loudest when it happens to them. There are plenty of sites where important issues can be discussed. Many posters here are better off focusing on unicorns, butterflies and karma.

Outlaw, I am more than happy to discuss the issues that are important to you. You have every right to speak your mind and lay it all out there. I may not agree with you on what you say, but I am willing to hear your opinion and debate it if you will! Thats what this site is all about! There could be a dozen reason why this Montgomery cop flew by you. Perhaps going to a call for service that required him to get there in a timely manor but dd not fit the criteria for a code 1 (lights & siren) response. Perhaps they needed use the bathroom. Perhaps he or she were really hungry and wanted to beat the lunch crowd. Perhaps they had no where to be and they just wanted to speed because their the police and they can get away with it. I hear ya! I too travel above the posted speed limit when on duty as well as off. It will be like that till the end of time. Majority of the time, police officers are speeding to get to a call for service in a timely manor so the citizen won't complain on how long the police took to get there.

Jeez... When people insult others, and "Yankee" did, I delete the post. As an owner of this site I don't want to drive people away. When the trash talk gets personal, it goes - especially if it is an iunregistered poster because 9 out of 10 times the unregistered posters flinging insults are a registered poster using a fake name to not be associated with their own post. "Yankee" trashed people that live here, trashed specific posters, and trashed this site. There's no way that a post like that should be on here.

Rich, Clearly it's your back yard and you can set any rules you want. I did not agree with everything the writer (Yankee) said , however they were expressing there views. There is a lot of trash talk on your site. Thats why the site is great! You can talk all the talk you want and it's freedom of speech. So a few people got offended, grow thicker skin people. MAYBE THE TRUTH HURTS! I take a beaten every time from the writers on the site, but I love it. Bring it on. I can stand my ground and defend my views. What a bunch of big babies. I still love the site!

Good job Rich. And for the s.l.o.w.e.r. folks, I won't mention names(Same Deputy) there are terms of agreement when registering to use this site. And since deputy has some averison to registering, he can't post a new thread, so he innundates other threads with inane chat. Register deputy, or go rant elsewhere.

I understand you had to delete the post, Rich, but in my opinion a thread should not be closed because of a bunch of whining ninnies. Of course you can do what you want.
Whoever is posting as same deputy today, whether you are a deputy or not, you can answer most of your own idiotic questions if you read the accident thread. I'm not going to respond further since you are not registered.

I don't know about you guys. But it makes me crazy how many police are within 2 miles of either side of the bridge. It's like welcome to the Eastern Shore, we are gonna get you for something. You got MTA cops everyday with a trap on our side, just beyond that you'll have county boys under the overpass. And throw in the State boys in the medians. It is like a police state. I've never seen more cops per square inch. It's rediculous.
