Engine killer: Sodium silicate 40%. The remaining 60% is water.
The water boils off as the the engine builds heat. The sodium silicate then essentially turnes to stone inside all the oil passages and bearing surfaces.
A perfectly rebuildable engine is turned to crap.
Seems like a waste to me.

These are all engines that yes were perfectly fine but, produced very high emissions as well as poor gas mileage. The rest of the cars are being sold to salvage yards where they will strip down what is good to be re-sold. And don't forget the cars bought in exchange were much better gas mileage cars. Maybe a bad plan by Obama but some of the ideas weren't. You should see some of the crap that got turned in. Oh and everyone had to have good credit to buy these things. They weren't sold to high risk borowers.

A vehicle at 15 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 800 gallons a year of gasoline.
· A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year.
· So, the average clunker transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.
· They claim 700,000 vehicles – so that’s 224 million gallons / year.
· That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.
· 5 million barrels of oil is about ¼ of one day’s US consumption.
· And, 5 million barrels of oil costs about $350 million dollars at $75/bbl.
· So, we all contributed to spending $3 billion to save $350 million.
How good a deal was that???

Yep. It was real nice of us to subsidize every person who purchased a foreign car. Real smart.

Lets not forget either, that the "clunker" couldn't be more than like 20 years old to qualify..... joke.

Sorry - just seems to me that since we had just bailed out GM and Chrysler with taxpayer dollars, maybe we could have done cash for clunkers ONLY for cars purchased from those two companies. I never thought the program was a good idea in the first place.

For about 45 days or so..and then..nada...

The only thing positive about the Cash for Clunkers program is that it has taken lots of Obama bumperstickers off the road.

HAHA.
Here is my take on bumper stickers. Its sort of like the "Have your christmas lights down by new years" kind of thing.
If your candidate lost, you've got a week to get the bumper sticker off. (although the next day is best) If your candidate won, you've got till inauguration.
After that its just silly. The election was nearly a year ago, nobody cares who you voted for.....and you people who still have "Gore/Lieberman" stickers on your car, WOW, put down the latest issue of "The Nation" and go take some goo-gone to your bumper. Its not a medal of honor.

There is actually a law regarding the political candidate signs in your yard. I think you have to take them down within 15 days or something like that. And as far as Christmas goes, the 12 days of Christmas go until the epiphany which lands on Jan. 6th or Jan. 19th, depending on which calendar you use.
