What a joke! If I were to win it now I'd return it. Accomplish something then get rewarded!

Even though I approve of most of what Obama's done and support him, I'm with you all: this seems a little premature.

as an affirmation of his goals and aspirations, i think the hope would be to inform the irans of the world of the goals and aspirations and direction of the rest of the world. i think we could all unite in the hope that this is realized.

I'd have to agree, probably a bit premature........................but, who really cares. Can you think of anyone else worthy of receiving it - keeping in mind it would have to be someone recognizable throughout the world that could create some buzz with the media. IT - sorry, if I were to win it now, I'd take the $1.4 million and run -unfortunately, based on the requirements for winning it, I would remain a pauper

Stan Fields: What is the one most important thing our society needs? Gracie Hart: That would be... harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan. [crowd is silent] Gracie Hart: And world peace! [crowd cheers ecstatically]

now i haven't read too much about this other than he got it... but wasn't it for a speech??? my question would be... shouldn't the person who WROTE the speech be rewarded? You know like a songwriter who gets rewarded at the grammy's for writing the best song of the year... ? just curious... again - nto sure of the particulars, but if it is for a speech... well then...

it's a pretty clear repudiation of the past 8 years. some people think those were good years, some don't. so it goes.

I have to admit that when I saw this thread, I thought someone was playing a joke, or maybe The Onion had come out with a really good story...

Um? Moosie - I am not putting words in your mouth. I asked you a question thats all. You are the one who seemed to make the assumption of why the Nobel Committee did what it did. Why you go on so about this smiting business I do not know. If someone smited you it was not me. The smite thing is a little juvenile if you ask me.

The nomination or the vote? was in Feb., right after he moved into the white house. He had not done anything worthwhile then and he has not done anything now. He should have turned it down.

it is a disgrace... i've worked in DC for so many yrs and colleagues telling me that i can't say i'm a republican...i know who i wanted as my next president... but i know now what happened
i know first hand from my employer at the nat'l academies (where those nobel prize winners are automatically members), yea right, we didn't but had to accept, those like al gore (PEACE PRIZE MBRS ARE AUTO MBRS W/THE NATL ACADEMIES), it works that way, and i believed that the entire yrs i was there, but, the 2 referenced above well...
well, 'nuf said... bj
