Not sure where your place is, but I generally fish the stretch between 139th St to 142nd St in the evening or at night and rarely get skunked on the incoming tide. Anoher spot I like for daytime fishing is actually a beach on the inlet. It used to be called "Stinky Beach". Now its been made into a park. Its at the end of Old Bridge Road, off Golf Course Rd. An 8 or 10 ft rod will get you to the channel, but it'll take 3 to 5 oz sinkers to have a chance of holding the bottom when the tide is moving. Drawbacks, it's got some snags, park closes at dusk, and take some "Deep Woods Off" with you. I usually try to walk the beach at low tide, looking to read the surf. This link is one of the best I have seen for tips on reading the surf. www.atlanticanglers.com/forum/f4/fishing-question-reading-beach-7940/I haven't tried any of the Delaware beaches this year. They added a requirement for a salt water license, and you have to get some sort of Federal FIN number before you can buy the recreational license. Oyster Bay Tackle (by the Green Turtle) in OC or their other store Fenwick Tackle, a couple blocks over the state line, can give you more details on that if you plan to try Delaware beaches or Indian River Inlet.
