My husband and I had an early dinner at La Fontana yesterday evening, for the first time. There was only one other family in there so service was great! ;D We had the Calamari and Mozarella sticks for appetizers and for entrees we had the Chicken Parmesan and the Capellini Al Granchio. Everything was great but by the time the entrees arrived, after bread and dipping oil, salad, and half of our appetizers; we were stuffed. I think we brought home enough food for two more meals. We'll be back!

We picked up some carry out on New Year's Eve, and have gone back maybe 5 times since!!!
The food is fresh, hot, and VERY Flavorful.
Their Chicken wings are the best that we have found on this side of the bridge.
We were also happy with the Pizza, Steak/Cheese Subs and Lasagna. GREAT Italian subs too!!!!!!!

Wife and I ate there last night for the first time. I got spagetti with sausage and peppers. Wife got a stromboli. We loved it! We're definately going back! We want to try a couple of things we saw on the menu.

La Fontana has excellent pizza and is the only place we order it from. But ... We ate at the restaurant for the first time recently and tried other menu items and weren't that impressed considering the price. The peppers and sausage entree was decent, and not too overpriced. The chicken parmesan however, was not good. The chicken tasted like the frozen breaded patties you might find at a Costco. In other words, not fresh tasting. That would be fine if it was slapped on some bread and I was only charged 8 bucks, but over $17! It was way too much. Plus, all the entrees with red sauces seem to be served with marinara sauce, which worked well with the sausage and peppers dish, but is too sweet for others. To be fair, the wines are reasonably priced and the service was very good. The portions were also nicely sized. It's just way too overpriced (even considering the portion size) for food that isn't fresh tasting.

I have to agree with you...I went there once and ordered gnocci (sp?) and they were "okay" but priced SO high! I just wasn't impressed but this was when they just opened so things may have changed. I have not been back, mainly due to price and also not a really kid friendly place either.....at least when it 1st opened. Now that Rustico is open I go there.......Wed is the time to go...it is so worth going, especially to just try it out, very low prices and the food was amazing!

Interesting. You found Rustico more child friendly and much less expensive than Fontana???
I've been to both and will be going back to both. If I want a pizza, I'll go to Fontana. If I want to sit at a bar, I'll go to Rustico's bar side. If I want a casual meal, I'll go to Fontana. If I want more of a fine-dining feel, I'll go to Rustico's restaurant side.
For the menu items I've looked at, the prices at both places seem to be similar and reasonable. Looks like I'll have to go back and compare again!

Well, child friendly NO, I would not take my kids to EITHER place. ;D I like Rustico on Wed nights where you get 50% off, its the only time I go.... So, maybe I am not really being fair but I have to say, I enjoy Rustico most but as I stated it has been a while since I tried LaFontana so maybe I need to give them another try.

Now, it's 50% off the bar side menu which is apps and pizzas, PLUS 50% off bottles of wine! My friend and I went there and ordered two apps, a pizza and a bottle wine and out tab was $45.00.... We could not finish our food, the calamari are the best, real calamari and we ordered the chicken pesto pizza.....Oh my........I am getting hungry now!

i am a former employee of La fontana and I can tell you first hand that all there food is make fresh. I remember everyday we had to make fresh salads, bread and the cooks had to prepare everything fresh, even the chicken. Iam not here to defend Lafontana, but 95% of the food is fresh not pre-made. You just may not know the difference or what REAL food tastes like.

scout....ok...95%.....i can't dispute that number as i don't have access to the buying lists and stock info...however....last week....i went there for lunch....i ordered the house special (now, mind you, i have always enjoyed la fontana - ok?) when it came out...the broccoli was still frozen. seriously. now, yes, frozen vegetables have been proven to be equally as healthy and tasty as their fresh counterparts....but...only if they are thawed. it was disappointing, but no, i didn't act like an ass and make a huge scene....i ate what i could of it, tipped the lovely waitress well, enjoyed my one italian beer and then left.
i only have one real question....for ethical reasons, i do not consume veal....that is neither here nor there...except for the fact that i love chicken piccata...(don't get started on how they slaughter chickens...YES I KNOW)....i would love to see a chicken piccata dish on la fontana's menu in addition to the veal piccata they currently offer. simantics? sure...whatever you want to call it is fine with me...but....it's the same process....different meat....shouldn't be a terribly hard thing to add...and, as always...IMHO.

The Eggplant Rollatini is awesome at La Fontanna and the Manicotti is another favorite. I've never had a bad, or even decent meal there - it's always been great! In my opinion La Fontanna is more for the cheesey-pasta type stuff and Rustico is more for seafood and veal type stuff. Both equally very good in my opinion but very different. We do have a pretty good variety of choices when it comes to Italian and Pizza here.
