I am curious as to what you do with a cat that you trap. I'm sure there are at least 101 things you could do.

No seriously, if the cat has some type of identification tag on its collar, phone number, address something, I contact the owner and do an exchange hopefully with the promise of it not happening again. If no ID then it goes to the animal control center. Then if I get a the same cat a second time, ID or not it goes to a different animal control center far away.

I would tell you what I would do with someone that declaws a cat or hurts an animal but it wouldn't make it past the forum censoring. I will leave it to your imagination. Not sure if it would count as one thing or two.

If no ID then it goes to the animal control center. Then if I get a the same cat a second time, ID or not it goes to a different animal control center far away. If the pet owner lets the animal run wild then they most likely don't care about the animal. When you trap an animal and take it to the pound, you are punishing the pet for the owner's bad behavior. The owner most likely does not care. It is not the animal's fault the owner does not take proper care of it.
