Is Chesapeake Chocolate still in that little strip of stores off of Rt. 50 across from Thompson Creek? How does the new place compare with them?

It's been forever since I've been there, but Chesapeake Chocolates focuses on all that chocolate-shaped stuff, right? Always seemed to me they were more of a novelty wholesaler type. I think they're still there over by the gun shop.
O My Chocolate has the shaped crabs and turkeys and stuff, but they're more of a traditional candy store with all the assorted chocolates, jelly beans, gummies, apples and so forth. On the website they talk about doing chocolate platters and fountains too, so I guess they do catering. And they have ice cream and coffee/lattes/cappuccino.
The only thing that bugs me is that there's no place to sit. Owner said the rule is that if you have seating you need to have public restrooms and he doesn't have enough room.
I was in this past weekend when he was hanging all their menu boards, ordered a couple of their 3D turkeys for our Thanksgiving table and will be getting a couple more wine bottles. Cool stuff.
EDIT: Just clicked your link. 20% off online coupon thru the holidays. Might send apples to the out-of-state family this xmas...

I wanted to thank everyone for all the kind words. I keep hearing good things about this board but I keep forgetting to check it. So many customers mention finding us here. Now I'm registered and ready.
Have lived here (Bay City) for 12 years now and the new store is open at Red Apple. Stop in any time and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
And since everyone's been so nice, 50% off all strawberry orders tomorrow (Friday 11/20) for anyone that mentions Kent Island Online. Got a great deal on berries this week and I think I bought too many!
Might want to call ahead to order so they're ready!
Thanks again!!

We don't sell coating chocolate yet. I will add it soon. If you need some, let me know when and what kind and how much. I would be happy to get it for you.

Your icon is so not fair! By the way, your apples have a new nickname: "crack apples".

OMG! Had to stop by there yesterday with the kids. "Only" spent $28, but wow! Chocolate covered twinkies?!?! Heartattack waiting to happen! Marshmellows on a stick, covered with white chocolate and M&M's!! The pecan clusters were awesome! But the weirdest thing I've ever seen done with chocolate is the chocolate covered wine bottles!! How cool is that?

The wine bottles are something we've been doing for a couple years now that started with someone asking if we could do it. The answer to that is always "Yes!" and then we sit down and figure out how. We did, and they've been a hit ever since.
Basically you bring us any wine/liquor bottle. We run a ribbon around it, cover it with saran wrap, decorate it with gourmet chocolate to your specs, and then wrap it all up as a gift. When it's unwrapped, you just pull on the ribbon underneath to break the chocolate so it can be served with the wine.
It's a great gift, especially for holiday and dinner parties as a conversation piece.
You choose the types/colors of chocolate and the ribbon, so the whole thing can be customized. We've done them with tuxedo and bridal gown designs, for example.
The only catch is that we usually need a day to turn it around, so our customers need to plan ahead a little. It doesn't take long to design, but the chocolate needs a while to set up before it can be packaged.
Anyway, thanks again for the feedback. We're also doing custom holiday baskets, holiday chocolate assortments, and an assortment of molds and pops for the kids, most of which is up on the Holiday section of our website.
Thanks!

But you DO sell the covered empty wine bottles at the store, right?

Empty bottles? No. The bottles we have in the store are for display purposes -- it's the only way we have to show that it's something we do. I'm pretty sure they're just sparkling cider.

Holiday Products are now listed on the website. There's much, much more in the store and even more that we'll be adding over the next few days. Virtually everything can be shipped from our store, excluding only strawberries.

Stopped in to drop off a wine bottle for coating this evening, everything looked so good that I may have to buy some samples when I return to pick the bottle up.
