Thier organization can't win games...................MSN has just reported that Angelos has turned down an offer from Cal Rpken to join the organization in a capacity to help develop younger players on the team. MacPhail seemed to be receptive to Cal working with him. Who turns down that type of offer from a class act and true baseball mind. The Orioles will go no where with Angelos making those kind of decisions. Good Luck Orioles Fans!

And, the saga becomes more of a mystery.... sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5104464&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlinesI don't know who/what to believe, I wonder who FoxSports' "source" was, if they checked it (and, judging by many of my experiences, if they are anything like the rest of the media, possibly their fact-checkers play "fast-n-loose", too), and just what the "source" really knew....well, like I said, don't know who/what to believe. Guess we'll have to see what else comes down the pike?

Work for the organization.....why? How about running it or even better, why not own it. I like that plan.

Thier organization can't win games...................MSN has just reported that Angelos has turned down an offer from Cal Ripken to join the organization in a capacity to help develop younger players on the team. MacPhail seemed to be receptive to Cal working with him. Who turns down that type of offer from a class act and true baseball mind. The Orioles will go no where with Angelos making those kind of decisions. Good Luck Orioles Fans! Found this on google. I'd really like to hear what Cal Ripken has to say. "With the Orioles off to a terrible start in 2010, Peter Angelos is as unpopular as ever in Baltimore. Even worse for Angelos than his club's 1-10 record is yesterday's report from FOX's Ken Rosenthal than franchise legend Cal Ripken Jr. recently sought work in the O's front office and was turned down by Angelos after meeting with team president Andy MacPhail. Angelos moved quickly to deny the story, telling the Baltimore Sun today that Rosenthal's report is "inaccurate and grossly incorrect," that he and Ripken have an "excellent" relationship, and that Ripken is welcome to work for the club, though he can't imagine Ripken accepting a secondary role of any sort. On one hand, it's hard to imagine even Angelos being stubborn enough to refuse a job to Ripken because of the huge PR backlash it will undoubtedly create. On the other hand, Rosenthal's report that Angelos doesn't want people to think MacPhail is in charge and doesn't want to share any glory with digging the team out of the AL East cellar with Ripken sounds like classic Angelos. The only person we haven't heard from yet in this saga is Ripken. Perhaps he'll be able to shed a little light on what really happened between him, Angelos, and MacPhail."

Keep in mind that Rosenthal has always had issues with Angelos in particular. I tend to take his comments with a grain of salt, or two.
Now, do I think that Angelos wouldn't do something this bone-headed? No, I think his track record has proven that some of his decisions over the years regarding the team have been less than ideal.
Probably the truth lies somewhere in the middle, I guess.
(How's that for tact?). ;D I'm not an Angelos fan by any stretch, after having watched him do things that have directly resulted in the dismantling of the "Oriole Way", but I also prefer to be leery of Mr. Rosenthal's input....he really, really loves to skewer Angelos.
