I was coming out of Bridges today, excellent Restaurant and something really pissed me off. There was an old Toyota Corolla (red) MD 44765 drove right over the "do not enter sign" to unload at the head boat down the foot path and on the grass. This was not a local from what I could see buy the way he treat out property. Having this head boat park their might cause a lot of problems.

Alrighty then...I know there's something I'm not getting here. I was thinking about asking my husband, but now I'm afraid he'll just start laughing at me - not an uncommon occurance...

"WALK-ON" HEAD BOATS Want to go fishing? Can't get a party together to charter a boat? Then the answer is a "headboat". These boats take out individual fishermen who are charged by the "head". Fishing on a headboat is an economical way to go fishing and to have a good time.

Now that Bill Clinton knows what a head boat is I don't think he'll be down to the Bridges for an appetizer.

Things change right before our eyes, and then we wonder what happened to the way it use to be and a way of life. It is, or was, or who knows for sure now.....a county public landing. There's not many of them left. I'm not defending the old toyota incident, to me though, it's no different to the "I'm really important driving my expensive car, so you locals get out of my way" type of people you see around more.
I hope the bridges does well, it should.....it's a destination spot. But, that's also the reason the Narrows area has been given an unofficial new nickname from travelers.....midway. It's midway to the beaches form the metro areas they came and then back. For a county that is trying to stay rural.....there sure is a lot of changes going on right before our eyes.
Just my observation.
P.S. Sorry, I have to go there. A Head Boat is a fishing boat where you pay to get on the boat whether it's just you or a group of you (think taking a bus to go somewhere for fishing). You pay to get on it, take your rod and you may not know anyone else on the boat.
This differs from a charter boat. A charter boat is where you rent the boat for 1/2 or full day fishing. It's just your group on the boat plus the captain and mate. A charter boat usually supplies all the gear too, except food and drink.

This thread about confusing terms and misunderstandings reminds me of one that sticks in my mind: A friend's wife overheard him talking to a bunch of his buddies one day and the term "playing a skin flute" was mentioned and how much he liked it. His wife got the idea to surprise her new husband by getting a flute and taking lessons.. which she dutifully did for a couple months.. You know the rest of the story.. ;D No, this is not a joke. Yes, she is a blonde.

To tell the truth...my initial thought was a head boat must be a boat that ties up at the dock and allows people to use it's "facilities" if the bathrooms at the Jetty are too busy at night. I know, I know...but we did refer to it as the "head" when I was in the military.
