Good question. Like you said on the other post; there needs to more things for kids (of all ages) to do locally. Hopefully people will see the obvious need and those that can do something about will.

QAC Park & Rec does them at local outdoor pools in the summer. Chesapeake College has swim teams for all ages at their indoor pool. They may have lessons for toddlers.

My daughter used to take lessons at the Kent Island Yacht Club through Parks and Rec.

The waters edge used to have lessons. I called up there and they said that they don't have a teacher, but keep checking back, because they might start up again.

Chesapeake offers swim lessons. Go to this link and it has the number to call. www.chesapeake.edu/continuing_ed/aquatics/aq_priv.aspThe price is kind of steep, but it says you can have groups of 2 or more. If you are interested in splitting a lesson, my son turns 2 in May. I might know another mom and baby interested in lessons too.

In Response to "Young Man's" post:
I am the owner of The Water's Edge and have posted on this forum from time to time when I have read confusing and/or inaccurate comments about The Water's Edge.
1. We have offered swimming lessons for children in the past. Another poster was correct; we are currently without a certified swimming instructor for children's lessons, but are actively looking for someone to fill that position. Persons who are interested in lessons for their children are asked to call the facility from time to time about the status of same.
2. Adults interested in swimming lessons can be accommodated if they are willing to take private/semi-private lessons. Availability and times are determined by the participant and instructor.
3. NO ONE working at The Water's Edge would tell someone 50-plus years of age that "they were too old to join our facility." I can only assume a staff member misunderstood the caller to say "15" rather than "50." Nevertheless, as is so often the case, rather than calling back and asking to speak with a member of management (or the owner,) someone would prefer to post a sarcastic comment about The Water's Edge...
Finally, as a person born and raised on the Eastern Shore, it saddens me every time I find myself feeling the need to defend The Water's Edge and/or the services we provide. Literally hundreds of people have benefited from this facility in the short, two years we have been open, and I will continue to work to see that all who need these services are able to have access to our unique facility.
