I gotta share one of my favorite one liners, no offense, it's all fun....
Atheism is a non-prophet organization

Sadly, there seem to be more & more atheists everywhere, especially young ones who've been educated in an increasingly secular, politically correct, anti-Christian school system. Blaise Pascal once said,“There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.” The Psalmist David said in Psalm 14:1, "The fool has said in his heart, There is no God."

islandpearl, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. Just because you believe doesn't mean everyone is required to. Not a sermon... just a thought.

She is sharing her opinion like everyone else on the forum. From a Christian point of view, it sounds like she is correct with her statement. As you said, "Not a sermon... just a thought."

My religion is observation. I believe the truths that I can detect.
Edit: I'm having a chuckle thinking about this post, because at the moment I'm looking at my nightstand, and see "Inferno" sitting there.

Anytime you start a statement with "sadly there seem to be " doesn't seem show compassion, it shows intolerance. Kind of like saying "no offense but... "

Exactly my point Rob.
What she said doesn't offend me. What annoys me is someone not being open minded enough to know not all people believe the same things, and it's ok to. I'm not trying to start a jihad holy war or crusade

I don't why some people to want others to adhere to the same religion as they do.
I'm pleased when I find beliefs in common, but it isn't something I share "on the first date", nor is it a prerequisite for acceptance or friendship.

It's nice to have mutual but not pushing it on someone. She could have started her statement in a different way and it probably still would have annoyed some people. I believe her view is coming from a Christian point of view. What Church are you and your wife attending now Mark? That is why I am surprised at your annoyance. This is certainly not the place to come if you get easily annoyed by people, that's for sure.

I don't why some people to want others to adhere to the same religion as they do. I'm pleased when I find beliefs in common, but it isn't something I share "on the first date", nor is it a prerequisite for acceptance or friendship. While this really doesn't apply to me anymore cause i'm married.... but it does apply to our kids... they should tell their "first date" if they are passionate about it - think about it, let's ignore the topic for weeks/months & then we our beliefs don't line up, we have issues... These are things we tell our kids to let others who they are interested in &/or who are interested in them up front because we are a Christian family & thankfully the 2 who are old enough to "date" have made the decision to remain pure til marriage - so for them, it's a big thing. They are both actively involved & love Jesus - why not share that? Now on the other side... it's not a prerequisite either... If they meet someone who isn't Christian but is willing to accept that they are & respect their decision to remain pure & not give them a hard time when they are active with church, etc sure... both situations will be met with guardrails from mom & dad anyway & trusting that God is in control. I have many friends that are not Christian - atheists, jewish, pagan even (that's what they call themselves for the record) and we are still friends & they are fully aware of my relationship with Christ. Heck... in all transparency.. when my husband & I met... he was raised Catholic but never really practiced and I was so burned by religion that I wanted nothing to do with any of it... so in essence he married a heathen... and if you know me now... this should be funny!

Wow. Mea culpa. I'm just now reading all these interesting comments. I don't have a computer @ home & only get chance to blog when not too busy @ work. I didn't mean my words to come across as too harsh; I wrote quickly from the heart b/c I only had a few minutes. But I truly can't imagine living without God. I believe w/ all my heart & soul the words of St. John 3:36: "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” If I truly believe the words of Hebrews 9:27 says, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment," then I'm going to try to lovingly share the Good News with those I meet in person or online. I'm thinking longterm... for eternity. What we think about the Lord...God...atheism... matters...both in this life & forever. Maybe as I get more internet savvy I can phrase my thoughts as cleverly & humorously as some of you've done. Your postings were eye opening & informative. I kind of feel like a lone Christian Alice in a big, increasingly hostile non-Christian Wonderland. I shouldn't be surprised, Jesus said in John 15:18-21 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own... If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you... because they do not know Him who sent Me."

Yea constructr but remember.... alot of those in that "fan club" aren't really HIS.... hence the stark difference between what the Bible says Christians should be like & what they actually look like in the real world....

God doesn't bother me at all! It's his fan club that really bugs the hell out of me! I was brought up going to Church and in a Church school. I don't really regret it. What bugs me the most is the folks who claim to be followers but do more harm to people than good. Those who start problems and when they get called out on it they say "Oh I am a Christian, I can't act this way and now I have to go pray". I am not perfect by any means and I don't go pushing "my choice of religion" on anyone because I would be a hypocrite for not following what God wants me to be doing. It does not mean I don't believe. I am just sick of the hypocrites, phonies, and wanna-be's out their and even in here. I met and worked with one of the worst ones ever the last couple of years and She is truly the nastiest, two-faced, lying human being claiming to be a Christian. On the other hand, there are some real good people out their that are true followers of Christ. Shorti is one of them. Don't let the nasty ones paint the picture of all Christians as a group. To each their own.

aww thanks harleyd.... however no claim for me.... I, like you, am not perfect & fall.... DAILY... and it's because of Him and His grace that gives me the ability to repent... I do my best thru Him... well Him thru me... cause the "real, fleshy" shorti.... well she wouldn't.... just being honest and no - never let the bad ones paint the whole group... sadly it's the bad ones mainly that get their 15 minutes & then everyone else is "just one of them"... it's frustrating for me but I've come to learn... It's not my job to change someone's beliefs... my job is to be obedient, speak truth in love, cleave to Christ & just BE..... Preach always, use words when necessary... Btw - completely different note... i hear you met some friends of mine!!!! As soon as I walked int he door i got the "I met someone who knows you!" Those two my friend, are a masterpiece being painted right in front of my eyes.... beautiful...

I saw a comment about religion a while ago and wasnt sure what it meant, it said.
"Religion is a crutch for the weak"
What does that mean?
