So, how long until the entire downtown Annapolis burns down? It's bad enough that there seems to be a fire every year, but to make things worse, it takes multiple years to fix the buildings. The historical society is mostly to blame because they won't allow the necessary renovations to be done to fix the aging electrical system without mega-hoops to run through, and they won't let anyone fix the burned out buildings without every stinkin' brick being in it's historical place. Let it go man, and let the city rebuild and refurbish before it's all covered in tarps.

According to the hometownannapolis website:
"Firefighters are still searching for a cause to the fire. No damage estimate was available this morning, but there was fire damage to the second and third floors, along with some water and smoke damage to the first floor of Chesapeake Trading Co."

It was definately an electrical fire. The wires are rotting away and the the roofs are leaking all over them. Way to go Annapolis Historical Society. Next year you can hang your Christmas reaths on the embers of a few more buildings...
If I owned a business down there, I would be very worried.

The Annap Historical Society is responsible for holding up the repairs from each fire because of the crazy regs on the outside of the buildings, but they don't have anything to do with fixing the faulty wires on the inside.

Exactly, it's up to the owners to do that but they are too busy maiking money to do it. I've done a lot of electrical work in that area and most owners only want to do the bare minimun, to save a $$.
