They've had quite a week. I think they have a long way to go to catch B'more.

Are you saying that you would rather live on thee Eastern Shore because you actually want to live there, or is the real (and likely) reason because it's all that you can afford? Seriously, the Annapolis area has 5X the population (at least) of NASCAR Island, so yes, there's 5X the crime. Averaged out among the population, it's the same d**n thing. Go back to your NASCAR watching, Budweiser drinking, Chevy Truck driving, country music listening, Bush voting, fried food eating, Larry The Cable guy watching simpleton life and leave the living to us. Yee-haw.

I hate Stevensville and Chester or as people call it "The Island". I work here (for the nexct 2 weeks) but don't live here. I live further East almost in Delaware, it's not like "The Island", no crime what so ever. I moved here because I wanted to, I love it. I don't run the risk of getting shot in Crimeville Metroplex. Go back to your Soccer Watching, Red Wine drinking, Mercedes driving, Sushi eating, Dane Cook watching avoiding getting deported with all the Mexican life and leave the living to us. Cherio

Yee-haw. Wow, there's an Edumacated post. Get over yourself and your town. I did. Born there, raised there, started my career there. Left for the cheaper real estate in '88 and wont be back. At the time $100K would get you a 1/4 acre lot in Woodland beach, Deale, Riva, or similar area, with a 50+/- year old shack that needed a total restoration. 15 minutes away on Kent Island we bought a 1/2+ acre lot, built a BRAND NEW 3br/2ba rancher for $86,800. BAM! it wasn't a hard decision, or a bad one. Today, thanks to the influx of money to Annapolis that bled over to KI that same rancher is now worth $300k+. yeah- good move. Oh I still work over there, but I come home to the NASCAR watching, Budweiser drinking, Chevy Truck driving, country music listening, Bush voting, fried food eating, Larry The Cable guy watching, better side of the bridge life every night and still love it. Keep your overpopulated, too much crime, nosy neighbors, heavy traffic OVERPRICED, out of reach to the working man housing, Town

I got you beat Chevy, I moved here and bought a brand new house for $50,000. Have you seen the real estate prices in Deale and Shady Side lately, and their property taxes?

While Annapolis is far from turning into Baltimurder, the violent crime is on the rise. It's probably a combination a a few things. Here's my take: They built a bunch of expensive condos everywhere in the last few years, up by the mall, and on lower West Street. Both of those areas prior to the building were crime ridden bad parts of town but now they have ten fold more people with money there to rob. The other thing seems to be the exodus from P.G. County to the surrounding counties (Charles and Anne Arundle). The crime in places like Waldorf in Charles County has went through the roof in the last ten years due to P.G. County people moving there, and now they seem to be piling into A.A. County. I don't know the reason why these people move into areas and ruin them (education maybe?), but they do, plain and simple. I've noticed a definite population difference up at the mall, and lately I've noticed a lot of P.G. residents in the police blotter committing crimes in the Annapolis area. It's coming...Waldorf by the bay.

I wonder what percentage of the criminals are crack/heroin/pill addicts.

And probably BEFORE 1988 I was just looking at the prices just yesterday at lunch time, $300k and UP for the old dumps down there...... My rancher oughta be pushin' $400k

Go back to your Soccer Watching, Red Wine drinking, Mercedes driving, Sushi eating, Dane Cook watching avoiding getting deported with all the Mexican life and leave the living to us. Cherio GBM, you hurt my feelings; although my skin is getting thicker as advised by our moderator! I was born & raised in Annapolis, moved here 15 years ago. I liked Annapolis and I like where I live now, although I acknowledge the problems just like there are everywhere. However, I do watch my kids play soccer, love the occasional glass of red, do drive a nice car, love sushi, and think Dane Cook is a kick! Does that make me a bad person?

Wow, I would have expected a much more eloquent statement from someone from Annapolis, you being so educated and all. Annapolis or not, there were still eight homicides, correct? Using your same logic, the island should have only 1 murder and it would be the same thing? No, we don’t. I could live either place; I chose to live on the Island because of the community. I don’t watch Nascar, I don’t drink bud, I don’t eat fried food, I don’t listen to country music and I think Larry the Cable guy is funny.
At least Mike has the guts to post his view with this name and not anonymously.
