Part of the attraction of annapolis is its charm. it's a walking town, with many nooks and crannies and stores, historic sites, etc., to discover. Another mall-type thing at parole has no scenery, nothing else, really. parole failed once before. i agree that annapolis is a pain. my kid went to school downtown, and what a nuisance trying to maneuver the narrow streets--how about during boat weeks!! what annapolis could do to improve is come up with a better parking/transportation solution. make it comfortable and easy to get there, spend a part or all of a day wandering around, relaxing, and then easy to get back to your car.i don;t know that anyone dislikes the town so much as the parking, etc.

Maybe add a few floors to the downtown garage - It sure could use it. Lower West Street has a lot of new things and a bunch of trendy type restaurants. I heard that a Morton's is going in by the new circle and a wine bar up that way too. I think that as long as they are right on top of the crime problem and keep that out of downtown, they will be fine. Tourists will keep coming and if the stay geared to-wards that, no problem.

They had the same reaction when the Annapolis Mall was built, Downtown Annapolis hurts themselves with their own actions, and what the stores sell. Tourists want the Navy stuff, not too many locals though. If you cater to the tourists, that's what you'll get, and winter will be really slow. Look at the diverse stores in the mall, they have the Navy stuff and all the rest.
I like downtown Annapolis, I grew up there, hung out there, went to Annapolis Elementary on Green Street, played hooky and hung out on the docks, yeah I like it. Make it work again.
I haven't bee to the new Market House since the closing & reopening farce, I don't have high hopes for it though.
