From an Email that I received:
I apologize for the last minute notice. I was just notified myself that the Public Hearing on the issue of the 2AM license is going to be held tomorrow night, Monday, October 22nd at 7:00pm in City Hall. Many of you indicated that you would like to help…..now is the time! I need to round up as many people as possible to come out and support this resolution! This is a matter of extreme importance. The survival of Castlebay and many other businesses in downtown Annapolis is at stake. Please, if you can, now is the time to step forward. I am asking any of you who can come to be at Castlebay at 6:00 for a free drink and quick strategy meeting. Then we will all go to City Hall together. We need to make an impression….we need to be ARMY strong! Send me a quick email if you have a minute and let me know if you can come. If you can’t email me, PLEASE, PLEASE just show up before 6:30. Thanks so much.
Regards, Vincent Quinlan

Hi Rich, I don't often get to drink outside of my house at 2am due to the kids. What is the proposed change? You are allowed to stay open and drink to 2 right now or are bars trying to get it to be 2?

Some bars downtown are allowed to be open until 2AM and some are only allowed to be open until 12AM. I really don't know why that is - but the ones (like Castlebay) that are being forced to close early are trying to change what ever ordinance they are under and claiming that they are losing business because of it, etc. It seems to me that everyone should be allowed to stay open until the same time. It would be like McDonald's and Burger King being across the street from each other and the city is making Burger King close hours before McDonald's. It doesn't make sense. Does anyone have more insight on this?

Funny we can have pages of taser cracks, and beating up cops, but no answer here.......
Or maybe it's sad

Well maybe it is a good thing that people do not care about having bars open even later than they are now. Maybe some of your kids care. Look at how the crime is increasing in Annapolis, that is what is sad.

Not much happened. The majority of the downtown residents are opposed to the change, so the next step isn't looking to good for bar owners....
