The lack of education on this site is pretty bad. Our taxes did not go up. The "Temporary" Payroll Tax expired. Instead of blaming the President, blame the party that shanked them as part of the negotiations. Peel away from Faux New for 10 minutes and get with the real world. Isn't the president the one that said 'you will not pay one dime more if you make less than $250K?' Faux News didn't say that. I make less than $250K and I am paying over one thousand dimes more in the real world. That's the truth. Peel away from the awe of Obamaism and look at the real world. You're paying a lot more for food, and double the price for gasoline since Obama took office. More Americans are living in poverty now, millions more on government assistance, food stamps, and housing We're neck-deep in debt and spending is totally out of control, and you're blaming Faux News? Who's living in fantasyland?

Falgar,
The temporary payroll tax cut was only around for 2 years not 4.
The day Obama took office we were at 6.2%, today we are at 6.2%. Its just a fact.

The most it can cost a family with two working adults is $4,548.00. Each adult would have to earn the maximum of the social security taxable scale of $113,700.00 for a total household wages of $227,400.00. Either way, I for one cannot blame Obama for giving all working folks a tax cut for the last two years. Go ask Andy Harris (R) if he voted to extend this or not.

Can we not allow people COLLECTING A CHECK FROM THE GOVERNMENT to vote? I think it's conflict of interest When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on the support of Paul! Funny you should say that. Where do you think the lost Social Security revenue was coming from during the lower tax period? It was coming from the general fund, estimated at $103 billion in 2011 and $112 billion in 2012. Directly adding to our deficit.

It was coming from the general fund, estimated at $103 billion in 2011 and $112 billion in 2012. Directly adding to our deficit. Maybe we should quit spending so much. That would solve most of our problems. Although, Obama did promise he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. Its a week away, cross your fingers!

Here is the thing...... with the government stealing back my own money.....and it will be more than 5K I bet...... I have quit spending...... Why hasn't the government? I don't need a slew of worthless and overpaid advisors to tell me at a costly and unnessary state function that we are out of money.... It's very obvious when I look at the bank account as to what is coming in and what is going out....... Unfortunately the "not tax" is making that gap not so far apart.... and that makes me not really happy! By the way.. when balancing my budget... the first thing that goes.... "entertainment....frivilous spur at the moment fun stuff"....... that makes me even less happy!

Falgar, The temporary payroll tax cut was only around for 2 years not 4. The day Obama took office we were at 6.2%, today we are at 6.2%. Its just a fact. Corrected both of these errors in my post above. Thank you for providing the more accurate information.

OK, so I exaggerated a little.. not $5K but $4.5K.. I learned how to speak in generalities and exaggerate by observing the politicians.. However, my $5K ball park figure is probably conservative in how much this Administration is taking out of middle America's paycheck if you consider all of the other necessary expenses (eg. Health Insurance Premiums, Doctors and Hospitals that refuse to accept insurance payments or Medicare, Utility Bills, gas for the car, groceries, etc..) for the average family that have gone up and continue to rise. Increases in costs for which the Administration does share complicity.
